Abstract

The transformer is one of the important equipment in the generation of electrical energy. The transformer has an internal design designed by the manufacturer to operate within the designed operating time. Therefore, the transformer needs a protection relay to maintain its performance. Relay protection is the most important aspect of protection against significant and rapid changes in current parameters. The relay will take more comprehensive protection and make the PMT trip when it fails. One of the distrubances has occurred at PLTU Banten 1 Suralaya which causes the transformers go out or trip. Analysis using the FMEA (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) method was chosen to determine the cause of disturbance caused by overcurrent in the cooling system of transformer generator. The disturbance in the transformer generator is caused by a single phase to ground fault in the cooling fan motor resulting in a significant current spike in transformer generator. The magnitude of one phase to ground fault current on the cooling fan motor is 10.87 A with a nominal motor working current of 5.6 A. Based on these result, an additional ground fault protection is urgently needed for the transformer generator cooling fan. Keywords : Transformer, Overcurrent, Failure Mode and Effect Analysis. Transformator merupakan salah satu peralatan yang penting dalam pembangkitan energi listrik. Transformator memiliki desain internal yang dirancang oleh pabrikan agar dapat beroperasi sesuai rancangan waktu pengoperasian. Oleh karena itu, transformator perlu adanya suatu relay proteksi untuk menjaga performanya. Relay proteksi merupakan aspek yang paling penting dari perlindungan terhadap perubahan parameter arus yang signifikan dan terjadi dengan cepat. Relay akan mengambil perlindungan yang lebih komprehensif dan membuat PMT trip pada saat mengalami kegagalan. Gangguan yang pernah terjadi di PLTU Banten 1 Suralaya adalah gangguan overcurret sehingga menyebabkan trafo padam atau trip. Analisa menggunakan metode FMEA (Failure Mode and Effec Analysis) dipilih untuk mengetahui penyebab terjadinya gangguan yang disebabkan oleh arus lebih pada sistem pendingin Generator Transformer. Penelitian dilakukan untuk menentukan perbandingan perhitungan waktu kerja relay dan pengujian koordinasi dari relay RCS 985. Gangguan pada Generator Transformer disebabkan oleh gangguan satu fasa ke tanah pada motor kipas pendingin sehingga terjadi lonjakan arus yang signifikan pada Generator Transformer. Besar arus gangguan satu fasa ke tanah pada motor kipas pendingin adalah sebesar 10,87 A dengan arus nominal kerja motor 5,6 A. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, sangat diperlukannya sebuah tambahan proteksi ground fault pada kipas pendingin Generator Transformer.
