Abstract

The energy crisis and air pollution caused by the transportation sector's continued use of fossil fuels have led to climate change and global warming. The use of electric motorcycles as an environmentally friendly alternative energy source can reduce the use of oil and harmful emissions. Electric motorcycles are a type of two-wheeled vehicle that uses an electric motor as its driving force and utilizes electrical energy obtained from a battery as its power source. The power source of electric motorcycles comes from batteries that have the potential to generate heat. This study focuses on the influence of heat on lithium-ion batteries during the charging process. This study aims to analyze the effect of battery heat on the charging time of converted electric motorcycles. The testing was conducted using a digital thermometer. Charging was performed under two conditions: without additional cooling and with cooling using a table fan at a wind speed of 5.7 m/s. Battery surface temperature, ambient temperature, and charging time data were recorded using a digital thermometer and smartphone. Sampling data was collected every 5 minutes at ambient temperatures of 32°C. The research results indicate that the use of additional cooling speeds up the charging time by 10.8 minutes (240.8 minutes compared to 251.6 minutes) and reduces the average surface temperature of the battery by 3.07°C (30.93°C compared to 34.0°C). Additionally, it was found that the convective heat transfer rate of the lithium-ion battery during the charging process is influenced by the use of additional cooling. Keywords: Lithium-ion battery, charging, charging heat, power Krisis energi dan polusi udara dihasilkan oleh sektor transportasi yang masih menggunakan bahan bakar fosil menyebabkan perubahan iklim dan pemanasan global. Penggunaan sepeda motor listrik sebagai sumber energi alternatif yang ramah lingkungan dan dapat mengurangi penggunaan bahan bakar minyak serta emisi gas buang yang merusak lingkungan. Sepeda motor listrik merupakan jenis kendaraan roda dua yang menggunakan motor listrik sebagai penggeraknya dan memanfaatkan energi listrik yang diperoleh dari baterai sebagai sumber dayanya. Sumber tenaga sepeda motor listrik berasal dari baterai yang berpotensi menimbulkan suhu panas. Penelitian ini difokuskan pada pengaruh panas pada baterai lithium-ion saat dilakukan proses pengisian daya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh panas baterai terhadap waktu pengisian daya listrik pada sepeda motor listrik hasil konversi. Pengujian dilakukan menggunakan termometer digital. Pengisian daya dilakukan dalam dua kondisi: tanpa pendinginan tambahan dan dengan pendinginan menggunakan table fan dengan kecepatan angin 5,7 m/s. Data suhu permukaan baterai, suhu ambien, dan waktu pengisian daya diambil dengan termometer digital dan smartphone. Pengambilan sampling data dilakukan setiap 5 menit pada suhu ambien 32C. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan pendinginan tambahan mempercepat waktu pengisian daya sebesar 10,8 menit (240,8 menit dibandingkan dengan 251,6 menit) dan menurunkan suhu rata-rata permukaan baterai sebesar 3,07C (30,93C dibandingkan dengan 34,0C). Selain itu, ditemukan juga bahwa laju perpindahan panas konveksi pada baterai lithium-ion selama proses pengisian daya dipengaruhi oleh penggunaan pendinginan tambahan.
