Abstract

This thesis discusses the design and construction of an automatic temperature and humidity control module for a pepper drying machine based on Arduino Mega 2560. The device aims to assist farmers in accelerating the pepper drying process practically, without the need for sun-drying, thereby enhancing the quality of pepper seeds and saving time and effort. The main components of this device include Arduino Mega 2560 as the primary microcontroller, DHT11 sensor for temperature and humidity measurements, an LCD for monitoring, a fan to stabilize temperature and humidity, and ESP8266-01 to send Wi-Fi signals to ThingSpeak. The operation of the device begins by placing the pepper seeds inside the drying machine and then activating the temperature sensor and heater by plugging them into an electrical outlet. The sensor will read the temperature and humidity, and if the temperature rises above 70°C and the humidity falls below 20°C, the heater will turn off to stabilize these conditions. When the temperature drops below 70°C and the humidity rises above 30°C, the heater will turn on again. Testing was conducted using sample data taken from direct observations. The Temperature Accuracy Test resulted in the highest accuracy rate of 96.928%, and the Humidity Accuracy Test yielded an accuracy rate of 99.732%. The designed system can automatically control temperature and humidity in the pepper drying machine with good accuracy. This device provides benefits to farmers in expediting and improving the quality of the pepper drying process effectively. Keywords: control and monitoring, pepper dryer, temperature, humidity, accuracy Skripsi ini membahas tentang rancang bangun modul pengontrolan suhu dan kelembapan otomatis pada alat pengering lada berbasis Arduino Mega 2560. Alat ini bertujuan membantu petani dalam mempercepat proses pengeringan lada secara praktis tanpa harus menjemur di bawah sinar matahari, meningkatkan kualitas biji lada, serta menghemat waktu dan tenaga. Alat ini menggunakan Arduino Mega 2560 sebagai mikrokontroler utama, sensor DHT11 untuk mengukur suhu dan kelembapan, LCD sebagai monitor, kipas fan untuk menstabilkan suhu dan kelembapan, serta ESP8266 – 01 untuk mengirimkan sinyal Wi-Fi ke ThingSpeak. Proses kerja alat dimulai dengan memasukkan biji lada ke dalam alat pengering, lalu menghidupkan sensor suhu dan heater dengan colokan ke stop kontak. Sensor akan membaca suhu dan kelembapan, dan jika suhu di atas 70° C dan kelembapan di bawah 20° C, heater akan mati untuk menstabilkan kondisi tersebut. Saat suhu turun di bawah 70° C dan kelembapan naik di atas 30° C, heater akan menyala kembali. Pengujian dilakukan dengan menggunakan data sampel yang diambil dari hasil observasi langsung. Pengujian Akurasi Suhu yang menghasilkan tingkat akurasi paling tinggi yaitu 96,928% dan Pengujian Akurasi Kelembapan yang menghasilkan tingkat akurasi sebesar 99,732%. Sistem yang dirancang dapat mengontrol suhu dan kelembapan secara otomatis pada alat pengering lada dengan akurasi yang baik. Alat ini memberikan manfaat bagi petani dalam mempercepat dan meningkatkan kualitas proses pengeringan biji lada secara efektif.
