Abstract

The Rancaekek region is one of the potential market areas in Bandung Regency because of its strategic location, so it requires a network capacity capable of providing data services to every user as best as possible. However, based on the results of OSS data identification that started from a customer complaint in the Rancaekek region from one of the operators, there are five sites with high average traffic value as indicated by the percentage of resource block usage that exceeds 90%, which means exceeding the operator’s tolerance limit which results in the performance of LTE network in the region is not optimal. To overcome this problems, in this final project, the application of the inter-band carrier aggregation method on the LTE-Advanced network in the Rancaekek region is carried out by combining band 1 (2100 MHz) of 10 MHz and band 3 (1800 MHz) of 10 MHz. One of the advantages of implementing this method is that it can be a solution in increasing network capacity in regions with high traffic by maximizing the resources owned by operators. Simulation of the application of this method is carried out in two scenarios. The first scenario is with band 3 (1800 MHz) as the primary component carrier. While the second scenario with band 1 (2100 MHz) as the primary component carrier. Based on the simulation result using Atoll 3.3, it is known that the presence of carrier aggregation can increase the average RSRP to -88.15 dBm with a percentage increase of 3.72%, the average SINR to 13.65 dB with a percentage increase of 53, 89%, and throughput to 4.192 kbps with a percentage increase of 181.5 %. Keywords: Carrier Aggregation, Capacity, Inter-band, LTE-Advanced, RSRP, SINR, Throughput Wilayah Rancaekek merupakan salah satu wilayah potential market di Kabupaten Bandung karena letaknya yang strategis sehingga diperlukan kapasitas jaringan yang sanggup memberikan layanan data pada setiap pengguna sebaik mungkin. Namun berdasarkan hasil identifikasi data OSS yang berawal dari custumer complain di wilayah Rancaekek dari salah satu operator, terdapat lima site dengan nilai rata-rata trafik yang tinggi yang ditunjukkan dari persentase penggunaan resource block melebihi 90% yang artinya melebihi batas toleransi operator tersebut yang mengakibatkan performansi jaringan LTE di wilayah tersebut tidak optimal. Untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut, pada tugas akhir ini dilakukan penerapan metode inter-band carrier aggregation pada jaringan LTE-Advanced di wilayah Rancaekek dengan menggabungkan band 1 (2100 MHz) sebesar 10 MHz dan band 3 (1800 MHz) sebesar 10 MHz. Salah satu keuntungan dari penerapan metode ini adalah dapat menjadi solusi dalam meningkatkan kapasitas jaringan di wilayah yang memiliki trafik tinggi dengan memaksimalkan sumber daya yang dimiliki oleh operator. Simulasi penerapan metode ini dilakukan dengan dua skenario. Skenario pertama dengan band 3 (1800 MHz) sebagai primary component carrier. Sedangkan skenario kedua dengan band 1 (2100 MHz) sebagai primary component carrier. Berdasarkan hasil simulasi menggunakan software Atoll 3.3, diketahui dengan adanya carrier aggregation dapat meningkatkan rata-rata RSRP menjadi -88,15 dBm dengan persentase kenaikan sebesar 3,72 %, rata-rata SINR menjadi 13,65 dB dengan persentase kenaikan sebesar 53,89 %, dan throughput menjadi 4.192 kbps dengan persentase kenaikan sebesar 181,5 %.
