Abstract

Companies that have several or even many branch offices need a stable computer network at the head office and branches. Therefore we need a prevention system by backing up the router if there is damage to the main router. HOT STANDBY ROUTER PROTOCOL (HSRP) is a CISCO standard protocol that can create a router that will automatically take over the data flow if the main router is down or dead. HSRP is set up with two routers that have router status, namely active and standby, if the active router fails, then the standby router will automatically change to active and will take over the data flow in just seconds, therefore company activities will not be hampered even by employees. even may not be aware of a change in router paths and IT employees can also perform troubleshooting on routers that have failed or routers down without disrupting company activities. Keywords : HSRP, Active Backup, Routing, Cisco Perusahaan yang memiliki beberapa bahkan banyak kantor cabang membutuhkan jaringan komputer yang stabil pada kantor pusat dan cabang. Maka dari itu diperlukan suatu sistem pencegahan dengan melakukan backup router jika terjadi kerusakan pada router utama. HOT STANDBY ROUTER PROTOCOL (HSRP) adalah sebuah protokol standar CISCO yang dapat membuat sebuah router yang secara otomatis akan mengambil alih aliran data jika router utama down atau mati. HSRP diatur dengan dua buah router yang mempunyai status router yaitu aktif dan standby, jika router aktif mengalami kegagalan, maka router standby akan otomatis berubah menjadi aktif dan akan mengambil alih aliran data hanya dalam hitungan detik, maka dari itu aktifitas perusahaan tidak akan terhambat bahkan pegawai pun mungkin tidak menyadari adanya pergantian jalur router dan para pegawai IT pun dapat melakukan troubleshooting ke router yang failed atau router down tanpa mengganggu aktifitas perusahaan.
