Abstract

Petroleum energy sources are energy sources that dominate their use as the main energy source, demand is increasing from year to year, which can lead to an energy crisis. To prevent this condition, it is necessary to develop environmentally friendly alternative energy sources, one of which is wind energy by utilizing wind turbines to generate electricity. This study used a six-blade spiral Horizontal Axis Wind Turbine (TASH) with a rotation angle of 120°, with dimensions of D=1.314 m in diameter, 0.50 m in length, Swept Area A=1.54 m2. The method used in this test is a field test in an open barrier-free area on the Muarabaru beach embankment, Penjaringan, North Jakarta, TASH. A series of tests and data collection are carried out at certain wind speeds which are measured together with the value of voltage (Volts), generator output current (Amp), torque (N.m) and shaft rotational speed (RPM) as parameters are measured and recorded simultaneously at wind speeds ranging from 4.1 until 5.3 m/s. Turbine performance characteristics are assessed from the value of the power coefficient (CP), Tip Speed Ratio (λ) and torque coefficient (CT) as nondimensional parameters that are not measured. From the test results, the actual highest turbine power value was 5.75 W and the highest actual torque was 10.8 N.m at a wind speed of 5.3 m/s. The highest power coefficient (
