Abstract

This comic is designed to increase new student's awareness on Mercu Buana University's Rules of Discipline, as well as providing the regulations in an innovative way, which will indirectly improve the effectiveness of its socialization. This work uses "Mahasiswa Hebat" as the core message to instill a positive perception to audience to obeying the rules. The comic itself were made based on common digital comic making method, like brainstroming, sketching, linearting, coloring, and finishing. Some of the theory used are based from comic structure, such as layout theory, color theory, and illustration theory. The results of this final project shows that communicating complex rules through comic strips - with the right combination of storylines and visual elements - are capable to drive the audience's understanding of rules violation based on the perspective they occupy as an observer. Keywords: Rules of Discipline, Comic, Visual Communication, College Student Komik ini dirancang untuk meningkatkan kesadaran mahasiswa baru akan tata tertib kampus sekaligus menyediakan informasi peraturan Tata Tertib Universitas Mercu Buana secara inovatif, yang kemudian secara tidak langsung akan meningkatkan keefektifan sosialisasi peraturan tersebut. Karya ini menggunakan pesan "Mahasiswa Hebat" untuk memberi persepsi positif kepada mahasiswa untuk patuh pada peraturan. Komik ini dibuat berdasarkan metode perancangan komik pada umumnya yaitu brainstroming, sketching, linearting, coloring, dan finishing. Beberapa teori digunakan dalam perancangan ini sesuai dengan struktur yang membangun sebuah komik, seperti teori layout, teori warna, dan teori ilustrasi. Hasil Tugas Akhir ini menunjukkan bahwa pengkomunikasian peraturan yang kompleks lewat komik strip - dengan kombinasi alur cerita serta elemen visual yang tepat - mampu memicu pemahaman audience tentang dampak pelanggaran tata tertib berdasarkan perspektif yang mereka tempati sebagai pengamat pelanggaran.
