Abstract

In modern times, the use of computer networks has increased, resulting in increasingly complex network systems. Therefore, with the GPON network system to help develop related network needs. One of the fiber optic network technologies capable of transferring data up to 2.48 Gbps, and minimal capital costs (CAPEX) and operational costs (OPEX), is GPON (Gigabit Passive Optical Network). This research aims to migrate the Metro - E network to GPON. With the implementation of the GPON system, it can reduce the use of many devices, which only requires an optical port in the central office (replacing multiple ports) which is used in a point to point architecture. In this research, the writer uses the research method used in this research is descriptive method. The descriptive method is a method that describes the ongoing process at the time the research was carried out. And the method used to collect data in this study is a secondary technique, where data is obtained from existing sources, namely internal company data (E-Track) that will be carried out by the GPON Migration. Within the GPON itself, there is the GPON Encapsulation Method (GEM) strategy for bringing TDM and packet-based services. As well as doing internal data analysis and then formulated as a basis for making an implementation strategy. The results showed that the GPON network was more efficient for link migration, both for the installation and maintenance side and at its own expense because its construction was simpler than the metro ethernet network. Key words: Migration, GPON, ONT, FTTH Pada zaman modern ini, pengunaan jaringan komputer mengalami peningkatan, yang mengakibatkan sistem jaringan semakin kompleks. Oleh karena itu dengan adanya system jaringan GPON untuk membantu pengembangan terkait kebutuhan jaringan tersebut. Salah satu teknologi jaringan fiber optik yang mampu mentrasfer data hingga 2,48 Gbps, serta minim biaya modal (CAPEX) dan biaya operasional (OPEX) yaitu GPON (Gigabit Passive Optical Network). Tujuan penelitian ini untuk melakuan migrasi jaringan Metro – E ke GPON. Dengan di implementasikannya system GPON dapat mengurangi penggunaan banyak perangkat yaitu hanya memerlukan port optik di central office (menggantikan multiple port) yang digunakan pada arsitektur point to point. Pada penelitan ini penulis menggunakan metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Metode deskriptif. Metode deskriptif yaitu metode yang menggambarkan proses yang sedang berlangsung pada saat penelitian dilakukan. Dan Metode yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data pada penelitian ini adalah teknik sekunder, dimana data yang diperoleh dari sumber yang sudah ada yaitu data internal perusahaan (E-Track) yang akan dilakukan Migrasi GPON. Didalam GPON sendiri terdapat strategy GPON Encapsulation Method (GEM) untuk membawa layanan TDM dan packet based. Serta melakukan Analisa data internal dan selanjutnya diformulasikan sebagai dasar pembuatan strategi implementasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa jaringan GPON lebih efisien untuk migrasi link tersebut baik untuk sisi pemasangan maupun sisi perawatan dan biayanya sendiri karena pembangunannya lebih sederhana dibandingan jaringan metro ethernet.
