Abstract
The documentary film "Entaskan Blind Aksara" tells the story of life in a Tegal terminal where it was built a learning house that aspires to eradicate illiteracy at the terminal. This learning house provides non-formal education to the terminal community, one of which is hawkers, their hawkers are trained in discipline, responsiveness and creativity that they previously did not get in the absence of this learning house. Being an editor in a documentary film must be able to create and maintain the continuity of each scene or shot. Transfers from one shot to another should be decent and smooth. An editor decides how long an action will be presented to the audience. Editors are required to have a strong sense of story telling (awareness / feeling / sense of storytelling), so it is certain that a creative attitude is required in composing the shots. A jump cut is a cut that cuts the jump of the image in a series of images that produces a fast rhythm, because the jump cut cuts the pause in motion in the shot. Immediately applied to shots that use take long, so as to produce or form a new shot as if the scene has several degrees. The editor himself tries to provide a variety of visual films through the selection of images, arrangements and timing, so as to create interesting storylines and build emotional audiences who watch this documentary. Keywords: Film, Editor, Jump Cut Film Dokumenter “Entaskan Buta Aksara” bercerita tentang kehidupan di sebuah terminal Tegal dimana terbangunnya sebuah rumah belajar yang memiliki cita-cita untuk mengentaskan buta aksara diterminal. Rumah belajar ini memberikan pendidikan secara nonformal kepada para masyarakat terminal salah satunya adalah pedagang asong, para pedagang asongan mereka di latih tentang kedisiplinan, ketanggapan serta kreatifitas yang sebelumnya mereka tidak dapat ketika tidak adanya kehadiran rumah belajar ini. Menjadi seorang editor di dalam film dokumeneter harus dapat menciptakan dan menjaga kesinambungan setiap perpindahan adegan atau shot. Perpindahan dari shot satu ke hot yang lain harus layak dan halus (smooth). Seorang editor memutuskan berapa lama suatu aksi akan dipresentasikan pada penonton. Editor dituntut memiliki sense of story telling (kesadaran/rasa/indra penceritaan) yang kuat, sehingga sudah pasti dituntut sikap kreatif dalam menyusun shot-shotnya. Jump cut adalah cutting yang memotong lompatan gambar dalam rangkaian shot yang menghasilkan ritme cepat, karena jump cut memotong jeda pergerakan di dalam shot. Jump cut diterapkan pada shot yang menggunakan long take, sehingga menghasilkan atau membentuk shot baru seolah-olah adegan tersebut memiliki beberapa dukupase. Editor sendiri berusaha memberikan keanekaragaman visual film melalui pemilihan shot, aransemen dan timing, sehingga terciptanya alur cerita yang menarik dan dapat membangun emosional khalayak yang menonton film dokumenter ini.
