Abstract

Nowadays, in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0, Millennials are increasingly dominating the workforce and starting to hold strategic positions in organizations. In contrary, the dominance of the Baby Boomer Generation and Generation X is decreasing due to the age of retirement. In other words, global is facing a generational transition from Baby Boomer Generations and X to Millennials at the moment. The existence of an industrial revolution from era to era that contributes to the phenomenon of globalization has an impact on significant differences in social character/behavior between the older and young generation. This difference is an indication for the organization to immediately adjust the implementation of talent management that is relevant to the needs of the young generation. This is considering the importance of human resources as the key to create competitive advantage which leads to the success and sustainability of an organization. This research is a qualitative research where the results found a decrease in organizational performance over the last 3 years and the implementation of talent management has not contributed positively in increasing organizational performance. Therefore, it is necessary to construct talent management including talent attraction, talent retention, training and development, as well as career management that can meet the needs of the current dominant generation in order to build the company's competitiveness that lead to sustainable organizational performance in the long term. Saat ini, diera revolusi industri 4.0, Generasi Milenial (Generasi Milenial) semakin mendominasi lapangan kerja dan mulai memegang posisi strategis dalam organisasi. Sebaliknya, dominasi Generasi Baby Boomer dan Generasi X semakin menurun sehubungan dengan usia yang memasuki masa pensiun. Dengan kata lain, saat ini global sedang menghadapi masa transisi generasional dari Generasi Baby Boomer dan X ke Generasi Milenial. Adanya revolusi industri dari era ke era yang berkontribusi pada fenomena globalisasi berdampak pada perbedaan yang signifikan terhadap karakter/perilaku sosial antara generasi terdahulu dan generasi muda. Perbedaan tersebut merupakan indikasi bagi organisasi untuk segera memperbaharui implementasi manajemen bakat agar relevan dengan kebutuhan generasi saat ini. Hal ini mengingat pentingnya sumber daya manusia sebagai pendorong terwujudnya keunggulan kompetitif yang bermuara pada kesuksesan dan keberlanjutan suatu organisasi. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dimana pada hasilnya ditemukan adanya penurunan kinerja organisasi selama 3 tahun terakhir dan implementasi manajemen bakat yang belum berkontribusi secara positif dalam mendongkrak kinerja organisasi. Oleh sebab itu, perlu tindak lanjut untuk mengkonstruksi manajemen bakat meliputi atraksi bakat, retensi bakat, pelatihan dan pengembangan, serta manajemen karir yang tepat sasaran sesuai dengan kebutuhan generasi dominan saat ini dalam rangka membangun daya kompetitif perusahaan untuk menuju pada keberlanjutan kinerja organisasi dalam jangka panjang Kata Kunci: Generasi Baby Boomer, Generasi X, Generasi Milenial, Industri 4.0, Keberlanjutan Organisasi, Keunggulan Kompetitif, Manajemen Bakat, Transisi Generasional
