Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between peer support and academic procrastination in students who are completing their final project at University X, West Jakarta. This study uses a saturated sampling technique that is taking the entire population of students who are working on their final project at University X, West Jakarta, as many as 149 students. The measuring instrument for peer social support was developed by Arham (32 valid items, with a Cronbach's Alpha value of 0.899). The measuring instrument for academic procrastination was developed by Pradana et al. (25 items are valid, with Cronbach's Alpha value of 0.895). The data analysis technique used correlation which showed a significant negative relationship between peer social support and academic procrastination with a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05) and a correlation coefficient of r = 0.705. The most influential dimension on academic procrastination is the instrumental dimension and the information dimension, each r = -0,630 which indicates a strong degree of correlation and the most influential dimension on peer social support is the dimension of time management skills with a value of r = -0,546 which indicates the degree of strong correlayion. The results of this study indicate that the higher the peer social support, the less academic procrastination and vice versa. Keywords: peer social support, academic procrastination Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara dukungan teman sebaya dengan prokrastinasi akademik pada mahasiswa yang sedang menyelesaikan tugas akhir di universitas X Jakarta Barat. Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik sampling jenuh yaitu mengambil seluruh jumlah populasi mahasiswa yang sedang mengerjakan tugas akhir di Universitas X Jakarta Barat sebanyak 149 mahasiswa. Alat ukur dukungan sosial teman sebaya dikembangkan oleh Arham (32 item valid, dengan nilai Cronbach’s Alpha 0,899). Alat ukur prokrastinasi akademik dikembangkan oleh Pradana dkk. (25 item valid, dengan nilai Cronbach’s Alpha 0,895). Teknik analisa data menggunakan korelasi yang menunjukkan hubungan negatif yang signifikan antara dukungan sosial teman sebaya dengan prokrastinasi akademik dengan nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,000 (p < 0,05) dan nilai koefisien korelasi sebesar r = −0,705 . Dimensi paling berpengaruh terhadap prokrastinasi akademi adalah dimensi instrumental dandimensi informasi dengan masing-masing nilai r = -0,630 yang menunjukkan derajat korelasi yang kuat dandimensi yang paling berpengaruh terhadap dukungan social teman sebaya yaitu dimensi keterampilan manajemen waktu dengan nilai r = -0,547 yang menunjukkan derajat korelasi yang kuat. Hasil penelitian ini juga menunjukkan semakin tinggi dukungan sosial teman sebaya, maka semakin berkurang prokrastinasi akademik begitu juga sebaliknya.
