Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there is an effect of social comparison on the Quarter Life Crisis in early adults of the sandwich generation. This study uses a quantitative regression approach with the sampling technique used is convenience sampling technique. 150 early adults of the sandwich generation participated in this study and filled out a research questionnaire via a google form. The instrument used in this study is the Iowa-Netherlands Comparison Orientation Measure (INCOM) to measure social comparison and the Quarter Life Crisis compiled by Sumartha (2020) using the seven aspects proposed by Robbins and Wilner (2001) to measure the Quarter Life Crisis. Regression test was performed using a simple linear regression method. The results of this study indicate that social comparison has a positive influence on the Quarter Life Crisis in early adults of the sandwich generation significantly with a t-count value of 5.937 > t-table 1.976. This study also shows that social comparison has an effect of 19.2% on the Quarter Life Crisis and another 80.8% is influenced by other variables not described in this study. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat pengaruh perbandingan sosial terhadap Quarter Life Crisis pada dewasa awal generasi sandwich. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif regresi dengan teknik sampling yang digunakan adalah teknik convenience sampling. 150 dewasa awal generasi sandwich berpartisipasi dalam penelitian ini dan mengisi kuesioner penelitian melalui google form. Instrumen yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah IowaNetherlands Comparison Orientation Measure (INCOM) untuk mengukur perbandingan sosial dan Skala Quarter Life Crisis yang disusun oleh Sumartha (2020) dengan menggunakan tujuh aspek yang dikemukakan oleh Robbins dan Wilner (2001) untuk mengukur Quarter Life Crisis. Uji regresi dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode regresi linier sederhana. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa perbandingan sosial memiliki pengaruh positif terhadap Quarter Life Crisis pada dewasa awal generasi sandwich secara signifikan dengan nilai t hitung 5.937 > t tabel 1.976. Penelitian ini juga menunjukkan bahwa perbandingan sosial memiliki pengaruh sebesar 19,2% terhadap Quarter Life Crisis dan 80,8% lainnya dipengaruhi oleh variabel lain yang tidak dijelaskan dalam penelitian ini.
