Abstract

The problem that occurs in one of the generator rotors is the presence of a ground fault winding rotor generator due to insulating damage on the wrong winding. This problem is due to thermal factors or because of the level of insulation that starts to decline or has been damaged. To detect the existence of these problems, it is necessary to test with the Reccurent Surge Oscilloscope. Tests are carried out to determine the location of the fault and the impedance deviation value. The ground fault that occurred in Mount Salak PLTP unit 3 was a ground fault that occurred when the rotor generator rotated 1000 rpm. To identify the disturbances used the Reccurent Surge Oscilloscope test method before and after repairs, as long as the test results have not shown any graphs that coincide, it is said that the generator still has ground fault. Besides the measurement of the rotor windings before and after repairs based on the IEEE Std 56-1997 standard (standard deviation of 3%). From the results of the Testing the Reccurent Surge Oscilloscope shows interference with coils 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A, 7A, 6B and 7B. Ground fault on the generator rotor is caused by damage to the insulation between the rotor windings and the retaining ring. Thus causing a deviation of 34.7%. Then after the isolation replacement, the results of the graphical Oscilloscope Reccurent Surge test showed no damage and the deviation value was 2.2%. With the improvement of insulation, the deviation value was reduced by 32.5%. Keywords: Rotor Generator, Ground Fault, Reccurent Surge Oscilloscope, deviation, IEEE Std 56-1997.
