Abstract

Digital compass with microcontroller AT89S51 is a devices that converting analog compass to be wind code and will be displayed on LCD. A digital compass will inform the kind of wind code without inform the degree of accuration code wind. Code wind that will be informed is North, Northeast, East, Southeast, South, Southwest, West, Northwest. The technical construction is using eight LDR sensor that will inform code wind. Compass needle is plating by transparent plastic that’s painted and devided to be one area for position sensor reading. Every code wind will active one sensor. This sensor condition will process by microcontroller and will be displayed on LCD as code wind information. Kompas digital berbasis mikrokontroler AT89S51 merupakan suatu alat yang mengkonversi kompas analog menjadi tampilan arah mata angin pada layar LCD. Alat ini akan menginformasikan arah mata angin tanpa menginformasikan derajat arah mata angin. Arah mata angin yang ditampilkan yaitu : Utara, Timur Laut, Timur, Tenggara, Selatan, Barat Daya, Barat, Barat Laut. Teknik pembuatannya yaitu dengan menggunakan delapan sensor LDR yang akan menginformasikan arah mata angin. Jarum kompas dipasangkan mika transparan dan dicat pada permukaannya dan dibuat celah yang digunakan sebagai pembaca sensor. Arah mata angin yang ditunjuk hanya mengaktifkan satu sensor. Keadaan sensor ini yang akan diproses oleh mikrokontroler dan ditampilkan ke LCD sebagai informasi arah mata angin
