Abstract

Aluminum alloy 2024 is a type of metal that has several advantages over other types of metals. Aluminum alloy 2024 is used in the civil and military aircraft industry, namely in the skin part of the aircraft. Improving the quality of this aluminum alloy can be done by means of heat treatment. To improve the quality of the 2024 aluminum alloy, a heat treatment process is carried out. This study was conducted to determine the hardness value in aluminum materials in 2024 before and after undergoing heat treatment. This test was carried out at the Machining Workshop of PT. GMF AeroAsia. using hardness test equipment after being subjected to heat treatment. The specimen to be tested, namely aluminum sheet 2024 thickness 1.6mm with a size of 30cm x 20cm. In the heating process for aluminum 2024, it is carried outby inserting specimens into the heating kitchen to a temperature of 400 ° C and 500 ° C, and followed by a containment process with a time of 3 5 minutes each. After the heat treatment process, the next process is the cooling process by dipping aluminum 2024 into the oil and water cooling media container until the temperature on the specimen returns to normal. After cooling, it was continued with rockwell hardness testing. In this test, 5 data collection points were carried out on each specimen with different points. The results of rockwell hardness testing before heat treatment were 29.62 HRB. After heat treatment, the highest hardness was found in test specimens with oil cooling media at a temperature of 500 ° C, namely 59.68 HRB. and the lowest was found in a similar treatment to water cooling media at a temperature of 500 ° C, namely 56.38 HRB. Keywords: Aircraft Material, Aluminium 2024, Hardness Rockwell, Heat Treatment, Quenching. Aluminium paduan 2024 adalah jenis logam yang memiliki beberapa keunggulan dibandingkan jenis logam lainnya. Aluminium paduan 2024 digunakan pada industri pesawat sipil maupun militer yaitu pada bagian skin pesawat. Peningkatan kualitas paduan aluminium ini dapat dilakukan dengan cara perlakuan panas. Untuk meningkatkan kualitas paduan aluminium 2024 tersebut dilakukanlah proses perlakuan panas. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui nilai kekerasan pada material aluminium 2024 sebelum dan setelah mengalami perlakuan panas. Pengujian ini dilakukan di Workshop Machining PT.GMF AeroAsia. menggunakan alat uji kekerasan setelah mengalami perlakuan panas. Spesimen yang akan diuji, yaitu aluminium sheet 2024 ketebalan 1.6mm dengan ukuran 30cm x 20cm. Pada proses pemanasan untuk aluminium 2024 dilakukan dengan cara memasukkan spesimen kedalam dapur pemanas hingga sampai pada temperatur 400˚ C dan 500˚ C, dan diikuti dengan proses penahanan dengan waktu masing - masing 35 menit. Setelah proses perlakuan panas, proses selanjutnya adalah proses pendinginan dengan cara mencelupkan aluminium 2024 kedalam wadah media pendingin oli dan air sampai suhu pada spesimen kembali normal. Setelah dilakukan pendinginan dilanjutkan dengan pengujian kekerasan hardness rockwell. Pada pengujian ini dilakukan 5 titik pengambilan data pada setiap spesimen dengan titik yang berbeda-beda. Hasil pengujian kekerasan rockwell sebelum dilakukan perlakuan panas yaitu 29.62 HRB. Setelah dilakukan perlakuan panas menghasilkan angka kekerasan tertinggi terdapat pada spesimen uji dengan media pendinginan oli pada suhu 500˚ C yaitu 59.68 HRB. dan terendah terdapat pada perlakuan serupa dengan media pendingin air pada suhu 500˚ C yaitu 56.38 HRB.
