Abstract

The increasing utilization and demand for Crude Palm Oil (CPO) makes innovations in palm oil mills continue to be carried out to increase production efficiency. One of the ways to increase the efficiency of palm oil mills is in the boiling or sterilization process with the development of a compact indexer system in the cage transfer process. In the compact indexer system, a drawbridge is added to the transfer carriage structure as a connecting bridge with the sterilizer and tipper. In the improvement of transfer carriage, the drawbridge design must be able to support the load from the cage when it rests on the drawbridge. Based on the case that occurred at PT. XYZ in West Kalimantan, there was damage to the drawbridge structure which may be caused by operator error in operating the system or calculation error in design. So related to the design process design in this study, the analysis was carried out to determine the maximum stress on the drawbridge when resisting static loading by the cage and the value of safety factor the drawbridge design. The analysis was carried out using the static simulation feature in SolidWorks CAD software to determine the resistance and strength of the structure to the given static loading, because in the previous design process only used AutoCad 2D and no loading simulation was performed. The results of the analysis is that the maximum von Mises Stress value on the drawbridge structure due to static loading is 1,02 x 108 N/m2 which causes the structure to deform by 0.222 mm. The deformation that occurs is an elastic deformation because the von Mises Stress is below the yield strength of ASTM A36 material of 2,5 x 108 N/m2 . The drawbridge design is declared unsafe because it has a safety factor value below the safe limit or less than 1, with the smallest value of 0.8 due to von Mises Stress 1.02 x 108 N/m2 . Based on the simulation results, the part of the structure that does not meet the safety factor is the end of the drawbridge rail, shown in red in that section due to the von Mises stress exceeding the permissible limit of 0.83 x 108 N/m2 . So to be declared safe, the drawbridge design needs to be improved in that section. Keywords: Compact indexer, drawbridge, stress, safety factor, static simulation Pemanfaatan dan permintaan Crude Palm Oil (CPO) yang semakin meningkat membuat inovasi pada pabrik kelapa sawit terus dilakukan untuk meningkatkan efisiensi produksi. Upaya peningkatan efisiensi pada pabrik kelapa sawit salah satunya pada area sterilizer dengan dikembangkannya sistem compact indexer untuk meminimalisir luas lahan yang diperlukan untuk area sterilizer. Pada sistem compact indexer, struktur transfer carriage ditambahkan drawbridge sebagai jembatan penghubung dengan sterilizer dan tipper pada proses pemindahan cage. Pada improvement transfer carriage, drawbridge harus mampu menopang beban dari cage ketika menumpu pada struktur drawbridge. Berdasarkan kasus yang terjadi pada PT. XYZ di Kalimantan Barat, terjadi kerusakan pada struktur drawbridge yang kemungkinan dapat disebabkan oleh kesalahan operator dalam pengoperasian sistem atau kesalahan perhitungan dalam perancangan desain. Sehingga dalam penelitian ini, terkait dengan proses perancangan dilakukan analisis untuk mengetahui maksimum stress pada drawbridge saat menahan pembebaban statis oleh cage dan nilai safety factor desain drawbridge. Analisis dilakukan dengan fitur static simulation pada software CAD SolidWorks untuk mengetahui ketahanan dan kekuatan struktur terhadap pembebanan statis yang diberikan, karena pada proses perancangan sebelumnya hanya dilakukan desain menggunakan AutoCad 2D dan belum dilakukan simulasi pembebanan. Hasil dari analisis yang dilakukan diketahui nilai von Mises Stress maksimum pada stuktur drawbridge akibat pembebanan statis sebesar 1,02 x 108 N/m2 yang mengakibatkan struktur mengalami deformasi sebesar 0,222 mm. Deformasi yang terjadi merupakan deformasi elastis karena von Mises Stress berada dibawah yield strength material ASTM A36 sebesar 2,5 x 108 N/m2 . Desain drawbridge dinyatakan tidak aman karena memiliki nilai safety factor dibawah batas aman atau kurang dari 1, dengan nilai terkecil 0,8 akibat von Mises Stress 1,02 x 108 N/m2 . Berdasarkan hasil simulasi bagian struktur yang tidak memenuhi faktor keamanan adalah ujung rel drawbridge, ditunjukkan dengan warna merah pada bagian tersebut karena mengalami von Mises Stress melebihi batas yang diizinkan sebesar 0,83 x 108 N/m2 . Sehingga untuk dapat dinyatakan aman, desain drawbridge perlu dilakukan improvement pada bagian tersebut. Kata Kunci: Compact indexer, drawbridge, stress, safety factor, static simulation
