Abstract
PT ABC is a printing company which is working on the order-based book printing. Responding to the current market competitiveness, the expanding trend of product development and an efficient and low cost production that enable of producing high quality product, PT ABC adopted a high technology-based strategy through upgrading its printing machines, one of which was through replacement of two printing machines Komori S26 A & B with one Speedmaster 72F machine. The research is aiming to analyze the effectiveness of the above company’s strategy and how it contributes to increasing company’s profit. The methodology used in this research is a combination of technical economy method and partial productivity calculation method, focusing particularly on calculating the internal rate of return (IRR), net present value (NPV), payback period (PBP), productivity value of the man power and the running time of the two different printing machines. Due to the result of calculation NPV, IRR and PBP of two printing machines Komori S26 is : Rp 7.161.083.322, > 60%, 10 months 5,4 days and Speedmaster 72F machine is : Rp 5.937.413.172, 35 – 40%, 3 years 19 days. And for productivity value of the man power and the running time 69.425 sheet/man power/month, 1.139 sheet/hour for two printing machines Komori S26 dan 103.688 sheet/man power/ month, 2.003 sheet/hour for Speedmaster 72F machine. PT ABC adalah perusahaan yang bergerak di bidang percetakan dengan produk utamanya adalah buku dan bersifat pesanan (job shop production). Dalam menanggapi persaingan yang semakin ketat, mengikuti trend perkembangan produk, tuntutan waktu proses yang semakin cepat, biaya produksi yang semakin rendah serta kualitas produk yang semakin tinggi, maka PT ABC dengan salah satu strategi teknologinya melakukan pergantian fasilitas mesin cetak dengan mengganti dua buah mesin cetak Komori S.26 A & B dengan satu buah mesin cetak Speedmaster 72F. Dari data yang ada di sini penulis mencoba menganalisa kebijakan tersebut untuk mengetahui seberapa besar keuntungan yang didapat dengan metode ekonomi teknik khususnya nilai internal rate of return (IRR), net present value (NPV) dan payback period (PBP) serta metode pengukuran produktivitas parsial khususnya nilai produktivitas tenaga kerja dan nilai produktivitas waktu kerja dari kedua jenis mesin tersebut Adapun hasil perhitungannya menghasilkan nilai NPV, IRR dan PBP untuk dua mesin cetak Komori S.26 : Rp 7.161.083.322, > 60%, 10 bulan 5,4 hari dan mesin cetak Speedmaster 72F : Rp5.937.413.172, 35 – 40%, 3 tahun 19 hari. Sedangkan nilai produktivitas tenaga kerja dan waktunya 69.425 lbr/orang/bulan, 1.139 lembar/jam untuk 2 mesin cetak Komori S.26 dan 103.688 lembar/orang/bulan,, 2.003 lembar/jam untuk mesin cetak Speedmaster 72F.
