Abstract
PT. PROPAN DEKORINDO RAYA is a manufacturing company that specializes in chemical coatings or paints. As time goes by, the market demand for paint is increasing, so companies are required to meet customer demands on time. So that the waste of time is not expected to occur, because it will affect the lead time of the process, which will result in the supply process to the customer. Therefore time reduction is a way to increase lead time and productivity. The purpose of this study was to improve the machine set-up time using the Single minute exchange die (SMED) and 5S methods. This method separates internal activities and external activities. Based on data from observations made in the analysis of the set-up time of the AOD machine, filling and carton sealer, the setting time used by the machine before the SMED method was the AOD machine 1494.54 seconds, Filling 10166.6 seconds, and the carton sealer machine 304.69 seconds. and after SMED machine setting time AOD 1018.51 seconds, Filling 8196.43 seconds and Carton sealer 87.145 seconds, the result is a decrease in set-up time of 22.26% or 2663.72 seconds. So that time efficiency is obtained by minimizing internal activities. Keywords: SMED, time reduction, set-up time, 5S PT. PROPAN DEKORINDO RAYA merupakan perusahaan manufaktur yang bergerak khusus di bidang chemical coating atau cat. Seiring berjalannya waktu, permintaan pasar terhadap cat semakin meningkat, sehingga perusahaan dituntut untuk memenuhi permintaan costumer tepat waktu. Sehingga pemborosan waktu diharapkan tidak terjadi, karena akan mempengaruhi waktu lead time proses, yang akan berakibat kepada proses supply terhadap costumer. Oleh sebab itu pengurangan waktu merupakan cara untuk meningkatkan lead time dan produktivitas. Tujuan pada penelitian ini adalah untuk memperbaiki waktu set-up mesin mengunakan metode Single minute exchange die (SMED). Metode ini memisahkan aktivitas internal dan aktivitas eksternal. Berdasarkan data dari pengamatan yang telah dilakukan pada analisa waktu set-up mesin AOD, filling dan carton sealer waktu setting yang digunakan mesin sebelum metode SMED adalah mesin AOD 1494,54 detik, Filling 10166,6 detik, dan mesin carton sealer 304,69 detik dan setelah SMED waktu setting mesin AOD 1018,51 detik, Filling 8196,43 detik dan Carton sealer 87,145 detik didapatkan hasil penurunan waktu set-up sebesar 22,26 % atau 2663,72 detik. Sehingga didapatkan efisiensi waktu dengan meminimalkan aktivitas internal. Kata Kunci : SMED, reduksi waktu, waktu set-up, 5S
