Abstract

The development of computer networks in a company or agency causes more and more network addresses to be connected to each other through routers. In exchanging data and information, a large company that has several branches in each region should always be in a stable connection condition, so that the data and information sent can be received on time. One technology that is able to serve these needs is metro ethernet technology, which is able to connect separate areas and also connects LANs with WANs or backbone networks that are generally owned by service providers. The advantage of metro ethernet that stands out is that it has failover capability by applying multiple paths to reach a destination network. In this study, the failover technique will be implemented as a backup link on the Metro Ethernet network with the OSPF routing protocol method as the routing protocol and IPv4 as the IP address for each device. The design of this network system uses five routers consisting of two access routers (Jakarta and Bogor), two core routers to manage the main traffic on the network with a failover system and one third-party router that functions as a backup router when playing. the link has failed. Simulations were carried out using the Graphical Network Simulator (GNS-3), Based on the results of the failover simulation test, when the main link interface is turned off, the path will automatically switch to the backup path. The results of the QoS measurement when the link conditions are normal from twelve trials, the average throughput value is 258 Kbps, delay is 104.85 ms, jitter is 1.02 ms, and the packet loss value is 0%. According to the ETSI standard, the values for delay, jitter and packet loss are in the very good category. The results obtained in this study indicate that the OSPF routing method shows good results in dealing with interference, with the QoS parameter values belonging to the good category. The throughput value is obtained to experience a large decrease in value in the link failure condition. Keywords: Delay, failover, jitter, metro ethernet, network address, service provider, packet loss, Quality of Services (QoS), routing OSPF, throughput Semakin berkembangnya jaringan komputer di suatu perusahaan atau instansi menyebabkan semakin banyak network address yang harus dihubungkan satu sama lain melalui router. Dalam pertukaran data maupun informasi suatu perusahaan besar yang memiliki beberapa cabang di setiap wilayah seharusnya selalu dalam kondisi koneksi yang stabil, supaya data maupun informasi yang dikirimkan dapat diterima tepat waktu. Salah satu teknologi yang mampu melayani kebutuhan tersebut adalah teknologi metro ethernet, yang mampu menghubungkan wilayah yang terpisah dan juga menghubungkan LAN dengan WAN atau backbone network yang umumnya dimiliki oleh service provider. Keunggulan dari metro ethernet yang terbilang menonjol yaitu memiliki kemampuan failover dengan menerapkan beberapa jalur untuk mencapai suatu network tujuan. Pada penelitian ini akan mengimplementasikan teknik failover sebagai backup link pada jaringan Metro ethernet dengan metode routing protocol OSPF sebagai routing protocol-nya dan IPv4 sebagai pengalamatan ip address pada setiap device. Perancangan pada sistem jaringan ini menggunakan lima buah router yang terdiri dari dua buah router akses (Jakarta dan Bogor), dua buah router core untuk mengatur lalu lintas utama pada jaringan dengan system failover dan satu buah router third-party yang berfungsi sebagai router backup jika main link mengalami kegagalan. Simulasi dilakukan dengan menggunakan Graphical Network Simulator (GNS-3), Berdasarkan hasil pengujian simulasi failover, saat interfaces main link dimatikan maka jalur akan berpindah otomatis ke jalur backup. Didapatkan hasil pengukuran QoS saat kondisi link nomal dari dua belas kali percobaan nilai ratarata throughput sebesar 258 Kbps, delay 104,85 ms, jitter 1,02 ms, dan nilai packet loss adalah 0%. Nilai throughput didapat mengalami penurunan nilai pada kondisi gangguan link failure. Menurut standar ETSI TR 101 329 v1.2.5 untuk nilai delay, jitter dan packet loss masuk dalam kategori sangat bagus. Hasil yang didapat pada penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa metode routting OSPF menunjukkan hasil yang baik dalam menangani gangguan, dengan nilai parameter QoS yang tergolong dalam kategori baik.
