Abstract

A good installation must use an installation cable that is in accordance with the Indonesian National Standard (SNI). Cables that have met the SNI standard for household purposes usually use PVC insulating material. PVC insulation material has several drawbacks, including low heat resistance so that it easily melts when working at high temperatures. In this study, the cable samples were tested for insulation resistance and the intact cable was tested according to the test provisions of SPLN 42-2:1992 and SNI 04-6629:2011. The parameters used in the research design are insulation resistance and ambient temperature. The conclusion of this study is that the maximum limit of insulation resistance that still meets the standard is at ambient temperature at 85˚C with insulation resistance of 69 M.Ohm, at 90 C the insulation resistance value is 32.5 M.Ohm, at 95 C the insulation resistance value is is 15.7 M. Ohm, and 100˚C insulation values are 7.3 M. Ohm is not meeting the standards set by SPLN. The percentage decrease in insulation resistance at an ambient temperature of 20˚C to 100C is 3% - 54%. Keywords: Insulation Resistance, PVC Cable, SPLN, Temperature Instalasi yang baik harus menggunakan kabel instalasi yang sesuai dengan Standar Nasional Indonesia (SNI), Pada kabel yang telah memenuhi standar SNI untuk keperluan rumah tangga biasanya menggunakan bahan isolasi PVC. Bahan isolasi PVC mempunyai beberapa kekurangan antara lain ketahanan panas yang rendah sehingga mudah meleleh jika bekerja pada suhu yang tinggi. Dalam penelitian ini sampel kabel dilakukan pengujian resistans isolasi dan pengujian tegangan kabel utuh disesuaikan berdasarkan ketentuan pengujian SPLN 42- 2:1992 dan SNI 04-6629:2011. Parameter yang digunakan pada desain penelitian adalah tahanan isolasi dan ambien temperatur. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini yaitu Batas maksimal tahanan isolasi yang masih memenuhi standar adalah pada ambien temperatur pada 85˚C dengan tahanan isolasi 69 M.Ohm, pada 90 ˚C nilai tahanan isolasi adalah 32,5 M.Ohm , pada 95 ˚C nilai tahanan isolasi adalah 15,7 M.Ohm, dan 100˚C nilai tahanan isolasi adalah 7.3 M.Ohm sudah tidak memnuhi standar yang di tetapkan SPLN. Persentase penurunan tahanan isolasi pada ambien temperatur 20˚C sampai 100 ˚C adalah 3 % - 54 %. Kata kunci : Tahanan Isolasi, Kabel PVC, SPLN, Temperatur
