Abstract

The employee relations communication strategy is one of the company's internal relationships that should be the focus of attention. The aims of this study are to: 1) describe employee relations strategies in managing conflict at PT Mulford Indonesia; 2) Describe the obstacles in developing an employee relations strategy to manage conflict at PT Mulford Indonesia. The concept of this research refers to the theory of Rhenald Kesali (1994) in which employee relations for a company is a technical means or a communication method activity that has the power to manage human resources in order to achieve company goals. This study uses a constructivist paradigm with a qualitative descriptive method. Collecting data using observation, interviews, and documentation. The data that has been analyzed can be analyzed using triangulation techniques, namely checking the validity of the data as a comparison against the data. The results showed: 1) The strategy of employee relations in managing conflict at PT Mulford Indonesia, namely: (a) Collaboration or collaborating, the goal is to find creative solutions that can be accepted by everyone; (b) Accommodating, as a human effort to defuse disputes; (c) Competing is a conflict that takes place in a competitive atmosphere by allowing a person or group to try to satisfy their own interests; (d) Collaboration or collaborating, namely allowing all parties involved in the conflict to be able to collaborate; (e) Compromise, the parties to the conflict are willing to give in. 2) Obstacles in developing an employee relations strategy to manage conflict include: (a) Personal factors, these factors become a source of conflict within the company when individuals within the company cannot understand each other. (b) Human error, in this case the conflicting parties are less cooperative. This study concludes that the existence of an employee relations communication strategy can improve employee communication in creating harmonious relationships and mutual understanding in order to achieve company goals. Keywords: employee relations strategy, conflict Strategi komunikasi employee relations merupakan salah satu bentuk hubungan internal perusahaan yang seharusnya menjadi fokus perhatian. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk: 1) Mendeskripsikan strategi employee relations dalam mengelola konflik di PT Mulford Indonesia; 2) Mendeskripsikan hambatan dalam membangun strategi employee relations untuk mengelola konflik di PT Mulford Indonesia. Konsep penelitian ini mengacu pada teori Rhenald Kesali (1994) di mana employee relations bagi suatu perusahaan merupakan sarana teknis atau suatu kegiatan metode komunikasi yang memiliki kekuatan mengelolah sumber daya manusia demi pencapaian tujuan perusahaan. Penelitian ini menggunakan paradigma konstruktivis dengan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Data yang telah di dapat dianalisa menggunakan teknik triangulasi yaitu pemeriksanaan keabsahan data sebagai pembanding terhadap data tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukan: 1) Strategi employee relations dalam mengelola konflik di PT Mulford Indonesia yaitu: (a) Kolaborasi atau collaborating, tujuannya menemukan solusi kreatif yang dapat diterima semua orang; (b) Accommodating, sebagai usaha manusia untuk meredakan pertikaian; (c) Bersaing atau competing, merupakan konflik yang berlangsung dalam suasana persaingan dengan membiarkan seseorang atau kelompok berupaya memuaskan kepentingannya sendiri; (d) Menghindari atau avoiding, yakni membiarkan semua pihak yang terlibat di dalam konflik mampu berkolaborasi; (e) Kompromi, pihak-pihak yang berkonflik bersedia mengalah. 2) Hambatan dalam membangun strategi employee relations untuk mengelola konflik antara lain: (a) Faktor personal, faktor ini menjadi sumber terjadinya konflik dalam peruasahaan ketika individu-individu dalam perusahaan tidak dapat saling memahami. (b) Human eror, dalam hal ini pihak-pihak yang berkonflik kurang kooperatif. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa adanya strategi komunikasi employee relations dapat meningkatkan komunikasi karyawan dalam menciptkan hubungan harmonis dan saling pengertian demi tercapainya tujuan perusahaan.
