Abstract

Public libraries as social institutions have a very large role in social change. This is related to the existence of a library as well as providing a source of information that is needed for the development of people's lives. But, in this era of globalization such as modern technology, there are many growing social sites and information that easily accessible to groups children to adult, makes public libraries less attractive to the public. The aim of this research is to understand more deeply about visitors perceptions of the interior layout of the Tangerang city public library. The research method that used is a qualitative method using interview and observation instruments to get opinions or answers from visitors. The results of this research are based on the perception of visitors are some variables are considered good and some variables are considered still not good, along with the most influencing variables are artificial lighting. Keywords : Perception, Public Library, Spatial Planning, Interior Arrangement, Visitor Interest. Perpustakaan umum sebagai institusi sosial sangat besar perannya dalam perubahan sosial. Hal ini berkaitan dengan keberadaan perpustakaan sebagaiman menyediakan sumber informasi yang sangat dibutuhkan untuk perkembangan kehidupan masyarakat. Akan tetapi di zaman globalisasi sekarang ini seperti teknologi yang modern, banyaknya situs sosial media yang semakin berkembang dan informasi yang mudah diakses oleh golongan anak-anak sampai golongan dewasa, membuat perpustakaan umum menjadi kurang diminati oleh masyarakat. Tujuan dalam penelitian ini adalah untuk memahami lebih dalam mengenai persepsi pengunjung terhadap tata interior perpustakaan umum kota Tangerang. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif menggunakan instrumen wawancara dan observasi untuk mendapatkan pendapat atau jawaban dari pengunjung. Hasil dari penelitian ini berdasarkan persepsi pengunjung adalah beberapa variabel dianggap bagus dan beberapa variabel dianggap masih kurang bagus, serta variable yang paling mempengaruhi adalah pencahayaan buatan. Kata Kunci : Persepsi, Perpustakaan Umum, Tata Ruang, Tata Interior, Minat pengunjung.
