Abstract

Technology in vehicles, especially motorcycles with internal combustion engines, is still being developed. Every motorcycle with a conventional or modern engine circulating in the Indonesian automotive market must remain at maximum performance and meet the applicable emission standards. Modern vehicles use electronic fuel injection to regulate the ideal fuel mixing process. How to determine the quality of fuel mixing using an oxygen sensor as feedback that provides input for the electronic control unit. Conventional motorcycles with a carburetor fuel carburizing system and not yet equipped with an electric control system. Manual adjustment of the mixture controlled by the mechanical components makes it difficult for the engine to find the ideal mix. Observation of the results of the method currently used by motorcycle mechanics to determine the setting of the air fuel ratio, and measured using a dyno test engine performance testing tool. The test results show less accurate results than the method used by workshop mechanics. The most appropriate way is to use an air fuel ratio gauge. Air fuel ratio measuring devices are already circulating in the market, but with relatively high prices. So, a microcontroller-based device is made that is able to measure the air fuel ratio of conventional motorcycles with high accuracy and low cost. Keywords: internal combustion engine, air fuel ratio, oxygen sensor. Teknologi pada kendaraan khususnya pada sepeda motor bermesin pembakaran dalam masih terus dikembangkan. Setiap sepeda motor bermesin konvensional atau moderen yang beredar di pasar otomotif Indonesia harus tetap berada pada performa maksimal dan memenuhi satandar emisi yang berlaku. Kendaraan moderen menggunakan electronic fuel injection untuk mengatur proses pencampuran bahan bakar yang ideal. Cara mengetahui kualitas pencampuran bahan bakar dan udara menggunakan sensor oksigen sebagai feedback yang memberikan inputan untuk electronic control unit. Sepeda motor konvensional dengan sistem karburasi bahan bakar karburator dan belum dilengkapi dengan electric control system. Penyetelan manual campuran yang diatur oleh komponen mekanis membuat engine tersebut sulit mendapat campuran yang ideal. Observasi hasil dari cara yang saat ini digunakan oleh mekanik sepeda motor untuk menentukan setelan air fuel ratio, dan diukur menggunakan alat pengujian performa mesin dyno test. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan hasil yang kurang akurat dari cara yang digunakan oleh mekanik bengkel, Cara paling tepat adalah dengan menggunakan alat pengukur air fuel ratio. Alat pengukur air fuel ratio sudah beredar di pasaran, namun dengan harga yang relatif tinggi Sehingga dibuat alat berbasis microcontroller yang mampu mengukur air fuel ratio sepeda motor konvensional dengan akurasi tinggi dan biaya yang rendah.
