Abstract

Rubber-based tires are a type of synthetic polymer. The cracking process is one way for synthetic polymer waste products. Overcoming used tires that have added value is to degrade them by heat through the combustion process. This study aims to analyze the combustion conditions to determine the melting point of motorcycle tire waste, and analyze samples of soot resulting from incomplete combustion of motorcycle tire waste. The method used in this study is the combustion method based on time variations, namely 15, 35, 60, 80, and 100 (Minutes), variations in O2 oxygen pressure, namely 2, 4, 5, 6, and 8 (Bar). This study uses SEM-EDS testing and XRD testing. Based on the research that has been done, the results obtained at a time of 60 to 100 (minutes) and oxygen pressure of 6 (bar) the formed soot mass is more stable, namely 4 (four) grams, this is due to the final prohibition of the end, while the morphological form with 1500 times showed that the shaped nanoparticles had a diameter of about 10 nm. EDS analysis soot consists of about 84.86% carbon, 9.17% oxygen, 4.07% silicon, 0.70% sulfur, 0.26% copper, 0.61% zinc. Quantitative analysis using match software obtained an estimated presentation of 67.1% Silicon, 20.4% Copper and 12.5% Zirconium. Qualitatively, it is better if the drying process is not carried out in a closed room (oven), this is because in the EDS test there are still silicon elements or sand substances that are still contained in soot. Keywords: carbon, soot, combustion reactions, motorcycle tire waste, SEM-EDS, XRD Ban berbahan dasar karet merupakan jenis polimer sintetik. Proses perengkahan adalah salah satu cara untuk meminimalkan limbah polimer sintetkik. Mengatasi ban bekas yang memiliki nilai tambah adalah dengan mendegradasi secara panas melalui proses pembakaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kondisi pembakaran untuk mengetahui titik lebur limbah ban sepeda motor, dan menganalisis sampel jelaga hasil pembakaran tidak sempurna limbah ban sepeda motor. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah metode pembakaran yang didasarkan pada variasi waktu yaitu 15, 35, 60, 80, dan 100 (Menit), varasi tekanan oksigen O2 yaitu 2, 4, 5, 6, dan 8 (Bar). Penelitian ini menggunakan pengujian SEM-EDS dan pengujian XRD. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan, diperoleh hasil pada waktu 60 sampai 100 (menit) dan tekanan oksigen 6 (bar) massa jelaga yang terbentuk lebih stabil yaitu 4 (Empat) gram, hal ini dikarenakan limbah ban mayoritas sudah terbakar sepenuhnya, sedangkan bentuk morfologi dengan pembesaran 1500 kali menunjukkan bahwa nanopartikel berbentuk memiliki diameter sekitar 10 nm. Analisis EDS jelaga terdiri dari sekitar 84,86% karbon, 9,17% Oksigen, 4,07% Silicon, 0,70% Sulfur, 0,26% Tembaga, 0,61% Zinkum. Analisis Kuantitatif menggunakan software match diperoleh estimasi presentasi fase Silicon 67,1%, Tembaga 20,4% dan Zirkonium 12,5%. Secara kualitatif sebaiknya ketika proses penjemuran (pengeringan) ban dilakukan di ruang tertutup (oven), hal ini dikarenakan pada pengujian EDS masih terdapat unsur silicon atau zat pasir yang masih terkandung pada jelaga.
