Abstract
The problems experienced by infrastructure both in the fields of structure, transportation, and hydro are soft clay, which is relatively low carrying capacity of the basic soil and relatively large compaction of basic soils. If without repairs to the subgrade first the above infrastructure (transport, structure or hydro) has the potential to be damaged before reaching the planned age. To overcome this problem, one of the alternatives that can be done is to repair subgrade with preloading method by using prefabricated vertical drains (PVD) with various spacing variations. So this thesis outlines the principles or basic methods of repairing soft clay preloading methods using PVD and for example done in the swamp area of the Lontar Steam Power Plant. There is also an example of the application of improved soft clay preloading methods with the use of PVD. Key words : soft clays soil, preloading, Prefabricated vertikal drain, geotechnical instrumen Problema yang dialami oleh infrastruktur baik di bidang struktur, transportasi, maupun hidro adalah tanah lunak (soft clay) adalah daya dukung tanah dasarnya yang relatif rendah dan pemampatan tanah dasarnya yang relatif besar serta berlangsung cukup lama. Apabila tanpa dilakukan perbaikan pada tanah dasar terlebih dahulu maka infstruktur diatasnya ( transportasi, struktur, ataupun hidro) berpotensi akan mengalami kerusakan sebelum mencapai umur yang direncanakan. Untuk menggulangi masalah tersebut salah satu dari beberapa alternatif yang bisa dilakukan adalah melaukan perbaikan tanah dasar dengan metode preloading dengan menggunakan prefabricated vertikal drains (PVD) dengan berbagai variasi spasi. Maka skripsi ini menguraikan prinsip-prinsip atau cara-cara dasar perbaikan tanah lempung lunak metode preloading dengan menggunakan PVD dan contohnya dilakukan di area rawa PLTU Lontar. Diberikan juga contoh aplikasinya perbaikan tanah lempung lunak metode preloading dengan penggunaan PVD.
