Abstract

Currently the network service availability is crucial to the company or business . Availability is necessary to avoid failure on a network that does not interfere with other services. Network failure can be caused by a failure on the link or device failure. Hot Standby Router Protocol (HSRP) and Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP) is a protocol to provide redundant router redundancy, this protocol allows the router backup automatically takes over if the primary router (master) failed. This research compares HSRP and VRRP on Cisco routers. The main objective of this study is to analyze the performance of HSRP and VRRP to overcome the failure on the network. Keywords: VRRP, HSRP Saat ini ketersediaan layanan jaringan sangat penting untuk perusahaan atau bisnis. Ketersediaan ini sangat diperlukan untuk menghindari kegagalan pada jaringan supaya tidak mengganggu layanan lainnya. Kegagalan pada jaringan bisa disebabkan oleh kegagalan pada link atau kegagalan perangkat. Hot Standby Router Protocol (HSRP) dan Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP) adalah protokol redundancy untuk menyediakan redundant router, protocol ini memungkinkan router backup mengambil alih secara otomatis jika router utama(master) gagal.Penelitian ini membandingkan HSRP dan VRRP pada router Cisco. Tujuan utama penelitian ini adalah menganalisis kinerja HSRP dan VRRP untuk mengatasi kegagalan pada jaringan. Kata kunci: VRRP,HSRP
