Abstract

Air pollution that causes acute and chronic respiratory problems is a growing concern from both a global and individual level. As a consequence, there is a growing need to address health and quality of life through lightweight and portable oxygen concentrators with oxygen supply class oxygen concentrations of 88 - 92%. This study aims to determine the optimal oxygen purity conditions produced from the pressure swing adsorption (PSA) system with an air source for each mass variation of the zeolite adsorbent used. The research was conducted by adsorption test using a mass variation of 13x zeolite adsorbent material, namely 600, 700 and 800 grams. The test results show that the oxygen purity level in condition 2 with a mass of 13X adsorbent zeolite molecular sieve (ZMS) in the amount of 700 grams or 82.35% vol.% tubes shows that at a test time of 10 minutes the results of oxygen purity reach 69.8%, at 20 minutes. reached 72.6%, at 30 minutes it reached 77.8%, at 40 minutes it reached 81.5%, and at 50 minutes it decreased to a percentage of 64.7% this condition could be explained because the adsorbent zeolite molecular sieve (ZMS) 13X experienced saturation point so that it is unable to adsorb further or a swing process is required. From the results of the oxygen concentrator test, the mass variation of the adsorbent zeolite molecular sieve (ZMS) 13X carried out by the pressure swing adsorption (PSA) experimental system for oxygen concentrator applications, it can be seen that the more mass of the adsorbent used, the more stable the oxygen content, it can be seen at the condition of 3 oxygen. The resulting minimum is 67.2% and a maximum of 81.2%, but in this experiment the best results showed that the purity level in condition 2 was 81.5%. In the best results, the oxygen level was 81.5% in condition 2 compared to condition 1 and condition 3 did not meet the limits for medical oxygen which has a minimum oxygen content of 82% pure oxygen. Polusi udara menyebabkan masalah pernapasan akut dan kronis yang menjadi perhatian yang berkembang baik dari tingkat global maupun individu. Akibatnya, ada kebutuhan yang berkembang untuk mengatasi kesehatan dan kualitas hidup melalui konsentrator oksigen yang ringan dan portabel dengan pasokan oksigen kelas medis konsentrasi oksigen 88 - 92%. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kondisi optimal kemurnian oksigen yang dihasilkan dari sitem pressure swing adsoption (PSA) dengan sumber udara pada setiap variasi massa adsorbent zeolit yang digunakan. Penelitian dilakukan dengan tahapan uji adsorpsi menggunakan variasi massa material adsorbent zeolit 13X yaitu 600, 700 dan 800 gram. Hasil pengujian menunjukan bahwa kadar kemurnian oksigen kondisi 2 dengan massa adsorbent zeolite molecular sieve (ZMS) 13X sejumlah 700 gram atau 82,35 vol.% tabung menunjukan bahwa pada waktu pengujian 10 menit hasil kemurnian oksigen mencapai 69,8%, pada 20 menit mencapai 72,6%, pada 30 menit mencapai 77,8%, pada 40 menit mencapai 81,5%, dan pada 50 menit mengalami penurunan ke presentase 64,7%. Kondisi tersebut dapat dijelaskan karena pada kurun waktu adsorbent zeolite molecular sieve (ZMS) 13X mengalami titik jenuh sehingga tidak mampu mengadsorpsi lebih lanjut atau diperlukan proses pergantian (swing). Dari hasil pengujian terlihat bahwa semakin banyak massa adsorbent yang digunakan maka kadar oksigen semakin setabil, bisa dilihat pada kondisi 3 oksigen yang dihasilkan minimum 67,2% dan maksimum 81,2% akan tetapi pada percobaan ini terlihat hasil terbaik kadar kemurnian pada kondisi 2 yaitu mencapai 81,5%. Pada hasil terbaik kadar oksigen 81,5% dikondisi 2 dibandingkan dengan kondisi 1 dan kondisi 3 belum mencukupi batas nilai ketentuan untuk keperluan oksigen medis yang memiliki kadar oksigen sekurangnya 82% okigen murni.
