Abstract
Inventory oftentimes represents one of problems that are hidden in a company. Inventory needs place, additional workers, and custody for the maintenance and also conservancy, whereas money that is inculcated can’t yield profits or advantages. On the other hand, the inventory function is needed as one of subsystems of production process. PSM faces the problems which are the difficulty to control the optimum materials in supporting the production activity. The amount of materials is needed to determine when the management can re-order the materials, knowing the optimum and economic capacity to answer the demand of requirement for a periodic time, and whether the ability and capacity warehouses have according to avoid risk of material damage. All of the problems like that need special handling. The research which the writer did in this company has given the solution of correction system for the existing inventories. Writer also has given the alternative approach of applying system, timely production or Just In Time with usage of the card of “kanban” as the control tool for the inventories. The repairing of inventory control system is conducted with calculation and using the Economic Order Quantity (EOQ), reorder point and the using card of “kanban” that is loading the information data for inventory level control. Inventory ( persediaan ) seringkali merupakan salah satu sumber masalah yang tersembunyi pada perusahaan. Persediaan memerlukan tempat, tambahan pekerja dan penjagaan untuk perawatan dan pemeliharaan, sementara uang yang ditanamkan tidak menghasilkan profit atau keuntungan. Di lain pihak fungsi persediaan sangat diperlukan sebagai salah satu subsistem pada proses produksi. PSM menhadapi masalah, sulitnya pengontrolan jumlah material (bahan) yang optimum dalam menunjang kegiatan produksi. Jumlah bahan diperlukan untuk menentukan kapan dilakukan pemesanan kembali, mengetahui berapa banyak kapasitas yang optimum dan ekonomis untuk mencukupi kebutuhan berapa lama, dan apakah kemampuan dan kapasitas gudang (tempat penyimpanan) sudah sesuai untuk menghindari resiko kerusakan bahan. Masalahmasalah seperti ini memerlukan penanganan khusus. Penelitian yang penulis lakukan di perusahaan ini memberikan solusi pembenahan sistem persediaan yang ada. Penulis juga memberikan alternatif pendekatan penerapan sistem produksi tepat waktu atau Just In Time dengan pemakaian kartu kanban sebagai alat bantu pengontrolan persediaan bahan. Perbaikan sistem pengendalian persediaan dilakukan dengan perhitungan dan penetapan Economic Order Quantity (EOQ), reorder point (titik pemesanan kembali) dan penggunaan serta pengoperasian kartu kanban yang memuat datadata mengenai informasi bagi pengontrolan level persediaan.
