Abstract
Symptoms of groupthink as a phenomenon that occurs in a community that has a high cohesiveness will affect the community in decision making. The phenomenon of decision making in a KPOP fan community is often beyond common sense, but it has the aim to maintain the same opinion in the community. The purpose of the study: to determine the symptoms of groupthink in the community based on Groupthink Theory by using qualitative constructivist paradigm research, descriptive research methods. Primary data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation, while secondary data through literature study. The results of the study: there are 8 identified groupthink symptoms, namely 1) Illusions of invulberability which are characterized by solidarity and sense of family, 2) Belief in inherent morality of the group which marked by wise decision making based on verified information, 3) Collective rationalization which takes into account the opinions of members in decisions, 4) Out-group stereotypes which marked by the views of other communities giving negative opinions, 5) Selfcensorship is characterized by members expressing opinions when having the same opinion, 6) Illusions of Unanimity that is there are various reasons members do not express opinions, 7) Direct pressure on Dissenters ie allowing differences of opinion, direct pressure only on members who break the rules, and 8) SelfAppointed Mindguard that is the person appointed as admin. Conclusion: there are other factors that influence the dominance of groupthink symptoms in the community such as the media that the community uses to interact, the activeness of members in interacting particulary in decision making, the limits of authority from the admin in regulating the course of the group, the form of the community, etc. The impact of groupthink symptoms is also influenced by the mindset, and the vision and mission of the community. Keywords: Community, K-Pop, Group Communication, Groupthink Symptoms Gejala groupthink sebagai sebuah fenomena yang terjadi dalam sebuah komunitas yang memiliki kohesivitas yang tinggi yang akan mempengaruhi komunitas tersebut dalam pengambilan keputusan. Fenomena pengambilan keputusan dalam sebuah komunitas penggemar KPOP seringkali diluar akal sehat, tetapi memiliki tujuan untuk menjaga kesamaan pendapat dalam komunitas tersebut. Tujuan penelitian: untuk mengetahui gejala groupthink dalam komunitas berdasarkan Teori Groupthink dengan menggunakan penelitian kualitatif paradigma konstruktivis, metode penelitian Deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data primer melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi, dan dokumentasi, sedangkan data sekunder melalui studi kepustakaan. Hasil penelitian: terdapat 8 gejala groupthink yang teridentifikasi, dengan 5 gejala dominan dan 3 gejala non dominan. Gejala Dominan yaitu 1) Illusions of invulberability ditandai dengan solidaritas dan rasa kekeluargaan, 2) Belief in inheren morality of the group ditandai pengambilan keputusan yang bijaksana berdasarkan informasi yang terverifikasi, 3) Out-group stereotypes ditandai pandangan komunitas lain memberikan pendapat negative, 4) Self-censorship ditandai dengan anggota menyampaikan pendapat saat memiliki pendapat yang sama, dan 5) Self-Appointed Mindguard yaitu adanya orang yang ditunjuk sebagai admin. Gejala Non Dominan yaitu 1) Collective rationalization mempertimbangan pendapat anggota dalam keputusan, 2) Illusions of Unanimity yaitu terdapat berbagai alasan anggota tidak menyampaikan pendapat, dan 3) Direct pressure on Dissenters yaitu memperbolehkan. Kesimpulan: terdapat faktor lain yang mempengaruhi dominasi gejala groupthink pada komunitas seperti media yang digunakan komunitas untuk berinteraksi, keaktifan anggota dalam berinteraksi terutama dalam pengambilan keputusan, batasan wewenang dari admin dalam mengatur jalannya grup, bentuk komunitas, dsb. Dampak dari gejala groupthink juga dipengaruhi pola pikir, serta visi misi dari komunitas.
