Abstract

SMK Negeri 2 Jakarta is one of vocational high schools in Jakarta that has Software Engineering major in it. From the survey result, we found 28 out of 36 12th grade students are coming from middle to lower class family that want to work immediately after they graduated from the high school. After a question and answer session with the whole 12th grade students for knowing their working readiness, we found that there is a gap between the curriculum and the demand in the industry. Therefore, this version control git training was held with a goal that at least, after the students graduate, they will have quite enough knowledge to enter the industry, especially about version control. The training was held with a workshop format in a computer laboratory owned by the school. From the observation, we found that the majority of students understood what a version control is, what the purpose of it, how important it is and how to use one of it, which is git. Key words: vocational high school, software engineering, source code, version control, git SMK Negeri 2 Jakarta merupakan salah satu SMK Negeri di Jakarta yang memiliki jurusan Rekayasa Perangkat lunak di dalamnya. Dari hasil survey, didapatkan 28 dari 36 siswa kelas XII RPL berasal dari keluarga menengah kebawah yang ingin dapat langsung bekerja setelah lulus nanti. Dari proses tanya jawab dengan seluruh siswa kelas XII RPL untuk mengetahui kesiapan kerja mereka, ditemukanlah kesenjangan kurikulum di sekolah dengan kebutuhan di industri. Oleh karena itu, pelaksanaan pelatihan penggunaan version control git ini dilaksanakan dengan tujuan paling tidak setelah lulus nanti para siswa memiliki sedikit bekal untuk masuk ke dunia kerja, khususnya mengenai version control. Pelatihan dilaksanakan dengan format workshop di sebuah laboratorium komputer milik sekolah. Dari hasil observasi, didapatkan mayoritas siswa mengerti apa itu version control, apa kegunaannya, seberapa penting penggunannya, dan bagaimana cara menggunakan salah satu perangkat lunak version control yaitu git.
