Abstract
ABSTRACT The purpose of this study is to prove and see the relationship between internet addiction and emotional intelligence in adolescents. The population in this study were all students of class XI and XII Department of Social Sciences. The technique used in this study is saturated sampling which is included in the category of nonprobability sampling. The sample in this study amounted to 123 teens. The data analysis technique used is descriptive statistical analysis and Pearson correlation technique on SPSS for Windows Ver. 23.0. The results of this study indicate there is a negative relationship between internet addiction and emotional intelligence in adolescents. These results indicate that the higher the internet addiction, the lower the emotional intelligence experienced by adolescents, and vice versa. Keywords: Internet Addiction, Emotional Intelligence and Adolescent ABSTRAK Tujuan penelitian ini adalah membuktikan dan melihat ada hubungan antara adiksi internet dengan kecerdasan emosional pada remaja. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI dan XII Jurusan Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial. Teknik yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah sampling jenuh yang termasuk dalam kategori non-probability sampling. Sampel pada penelitian ini berjumlah 123 remaja. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis statistik deskriptif dan teknik pearson correlation pada SPSS for windows ver. 23.0. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan terdapat hubungan negatif antara adiksi internet dengan kecerdasan emosional pada remaja. Hasil ini menunjukan bahwa semakin tinggi adiksi internet maka semakin rendah kecerdasan emosional yang dialami remaja, begitu sebaliknya.
