Abstract

ABSTRAK PT. Jtekt Indonesia adalah sebuah perusahaan yang bergerak di bidang manufaktur bearing dan power steering yang mampu menjadi supplier perusahaan otomotif ternama di Indonesia. Khususnya pada proses produksi bearing, pada aktivitas change over proses grinding di mesin width grinding terdapat banyak waste yang dapat mengurangi kemampuan produksi harian. Oleh karena menuntut adanya perbaikan terhadap aktivitas change over pada mesin width grinding tersebut. Pengurangan waktu change over dapat diminimalisir dengan menggunakan metode Single-Minute Exchange of Dies (SMED). Metode SMED memisahkan kegiatan set-up menjadi dua, yaitu internal set-up dan eksternal set-up. Internal set-up merupakan kegiatan set-up yang hanya dapat dilakukan pada saat mesin berhenti. Eksternal set-up merupakan kegiatan set-up yang dapat dilakukan pada saat mesin sedang berjalan atau beroperasi. Dengan mengubah internal set-up menjadi eksternal set-up, maka kegiatan set-up yang dilakukan pada saat mesin berhenti dapat dilakukan pada saat mesin berjalan sehingga waktu set-up dapat berkurang. Hasil pengolahan data menunjukkan bahwa dengan diterapkannya metode SMED, waktu change over pada mesin width grinding dapat dipersingkat hingga 62% dengan kapasitas produksi meningkat 49.85%. Dengan hasi tersebut maka dapat menghemat biaya produksi. Kata kunci: Metode SMED, waktu change over, aktivitas eksternal change over, aktivitas internal change over. ABSTRACT PT. Jtekt Indonesia is a company that manufacturing bearing and power steering and as supplier for famous otomatif company in Indonesia. Specially on bearing manufacture, change over activity of grinding process at width grinding machine, there are a lot of waste time that been decrease of productivity of machine. Reducing set-up time can be done by using Single-Minute Exchange of Die (SMED) method. The SMED method separates set-up time activities to become two activities, which are internal set-up and external set-up. Internal set-up is an activity that is only done when the machines are not operated. External set-up is an activity that can only be done when the machine is being operated. By changing internal set-up to become external set-up, then the set-up activities that is done when the machine is stopped can be done when the machine is operated so the time for the set-up can be minimized. The result of data analysis shows that by the application of SMED method, the change over time at width grinding can be reduced up to 62%. It makes productvity be increased up to 49.85% with the result that makes a big saving cost of productions process.
