Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of verbal aggression on political disengagement in Mercu Buana University’s students. This research method uses a quasi experimental method with randomized matched pretest-post test design. The study was conducted on 152 participants of the Mercu Buana University students and consisted of two groups, the experimental group and the control group, each of group 76 participants. The test results of the independent sample t-test state that there is an effect of verbal aggression on political disengagement with a significance value of 0.027. The influence of verbal aggression on political disengagement is 3.2%. This research is a preliminary study, the further research is needed to enrich literacy from political disengagement, verbal aggression, or both. Keywords: Verbal Aggression, Political Disengagement, Quasi Experimental Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh agresi verbal terhadap political disengagement pada mahasiswa Universitas Mercu Buana. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuasi eksperimen dengan desain randomized matched pretest-posttest design. Penelitian dilakukan kepada 152 partisipan mahasiswa Universitas Mercu Buana dan terdiri dari dua kelompok yaitu kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol yang masing-masing 76 partisipan. Hasil uji independent sample t-test menyatakan bahwa terdapat pengaruh agresi verbal terhadap political disengagement dengan nilai signifikansi 0.027. Adapun besar efek atau pengaruh agresi verbal terhadap political disengagement pada mahasiswa Universitas Mercu Buana sebesar 3.2%. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian preliminary study, dimana dibutuhkan penelitian selanjutnya untuk memperkaya literasi dari political disengagement, agresi verbal, ataupun keduanya.
