Abstract
PERANCANGAN MEDIA KAMPANYE SOSIAL PENTINGNYA KESADARAN MASYARAKAT AKAN PERLINDUNGAN HARIMAU SUMATERA Ariel Aryawan 42316210019 ABSTRACT The Sumatran tiger (Panthera Tigris Sumatrae) is one of the proud endangered species that only lives on the island of Sumatra. The Sumatran tiger is also the only species of tiger that has survived in Indonesia after the extinct Bali and Javanese tigers. Efforts to save the Sumatran Tiger have been carried out for a long time and are continuously being carried out by the Indonesian government and various parties who care about the preservation of this animal, both from within and outside the country. At present the Sumatran tiger population in the wild is estimated to be around 600 individuals scattered in several fragmented forest areas for various reasons. The conversion of forests to land and oil palm and rubber plantations is one of the consequences of conflict between humans and tigers. Through social campaigns, the design of visual communication media designs is one of the efforts to increase the public's sense of concern for the Sumatran tiger and its natural ecosystem. PERANCANGAN MEDIA KAMPANYE SOSIAL PENTINGNYA KESADARAN MASYARAKAT AKAN PERLINDUNGAN HARIMAU SUMATERA Ariel Aryawan 42316210019 ABSTRAK Harimau Sumatera (Panthera Tigris Sumatrae) merupakan salah satu satwa langka kebanggaan yang hanya hidup di Pulau Sumatera. Harimau Sumatera juga satu-satunya spesies harimau yang masih bertahan hidup di Indonesia setelah Harimau Bali dan Harimau Jawa yang telah punah. Upaya untuk penyelamatan Harimau Sumatera telah lama dan secara terus menerus dilakukan oleh pemerintah Indonesia dan berbagai pihak yang peduli terhadap pelestarian satwa ini baik dari dalam maupun luar negeri. Saat ini populasi Harimau Sumatera di alam diperkirakan sekitar 600 individu yang tersebar di beberapa kawasan hutan yang terfragmentasi karena berbagai sebab. Konversi hutan menjadi lahan dan perkebunan kelapa sawit dan karet menjadi salah satu akibat konflik antara manusia dan harimau. Melalui kampanye sosial, perancangan desain media komunikasi visual menjadi salah satu upaya dalam meningkatkan rasa kepedulian masyarakat terhadap Harimau Sumatera dan ekosistem alami.
