Abstract
This study aims to determine the effect of macroeconomic variables on financial distress in the transportation sub sectors listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange period 2014-2018. Sample selection in this study using purposive sampling method and obtained 13 companies that fit the criteria of a total of 32 companies. The method used in this research is panel data regression analysis and it is found that the more appropriate model used is fixed effect. From result of research got value of adjusted R-square equal to 75,80%. This means that 75,80% of financial distress variables can be explained by the variables inflation, interest rate, and exchange rate. While the remaining 24,20% is explained by other factors outside the study. Partially, the results of this study indicate that inflation variable has negative and no significant effect on financial distress in transportation sub sector, while the variable interest rate has negative and significant effect on financial distress in transportation sub sector and exchange rate has positive and significant effect on financial distress in transportation sub sector. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh variabel ekonomi makro terhadap financial distress pada sub sektor transportasi yang tercatat di Bursa Efek Indonesia periode 2014-2018. Pemilihan sampel dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode purposive sampling dan didapatkan 13 perusahaan yang sesuai dengan kriteria dari total 32 perusahaan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah analisis regresi data panel dan didapatkan bahwa model yang lebih tepat digunakan adalah fixed effect. Dari hasil penelitian didapatkan nilai adjusted R-square sebesar 75,80%. Artinya 75,80% variabel financial distress dapat dijelaskan oleh variabel tingkat inflasi, tingkat suku bunga dan nilai tukar. Sedangkan sisanya 24,20% dijelaskan oleh faktor lain diluar penelitian. Secara parsial, hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa variabel tingkat inflasi berpengaruh negatif dan tidak signifikan terhadap financial distress pada sub sektor transportasi, sedangkan variabel tingkat suku bunga berpengaruh negatif dan signifikan terhadap financial distress pada sub sektor transportasi dan nilai tukar berpengaruh positif dan berpengaruh signifikan terhadap financial distress pada sub sektor transportasi.
