Abstract
ABSTRAK Gitar adalah alat musik yang sangat umum dan dapat ditemukan hampir di setiap negara di seluruh dunia, terutama gitar akustik selain karena murah, banyak orang dapat dengan mudah mempelajari dan memainkan alat musik ini. Hasil dari suara gitar akustik yang sangat merdu dan riang juga sangat digemari oleh setiap orang yang mendengarkannya, baik dari lapisan masyarakat bawah maupun para musisi terkenal.Tak jarang para musisi professional melantunkan gitarnya di pentas-pentas musik dan konsernya. Alat musik yang tak lekang oleh zaman ini juga dibuat oleh banyak produsen gitar di seluruh dunia baik yang bersifat rumahan maupun pabrikan yang berskala global, oleh sebab itu maka kami mencoba untuk memodifikasi hasil mesin press bodi gitar yang bersifat manual menjadi automatis. Proses material veneer kayu meranti dengan ukuran 1000x100x3 mm direndam pada air panas bertemperatr 60 C selama 10 menit (PT. YMMI) sampai jenuh air sehingga proses pembentukan body gitar dapat dilakukan dengan mudah. Diketahui bahwa bahan berlignoselulosa yang mengandung polimer amorphous dapat berubah dari kondisi seperti gelas (glassy states) menjadi kondisi seperti karet (rubbery conditions) dan memungkinkan untuk terdeformasi ketika dipanaskan dalam keadaan basah pada suhu tertentu (Hillis dan Rozsa 1978). Proses kerja selanjutnya dari modifikasi mesin ini adalah penge-press-an veneer kayu tadi ke mold body gitar dengan air cylinder berdiameter 100 mm dan penekukan kontur samping (kanan-kiri) dengan air cylinder berdiameter 25 mm dan dipanaskan dengan heater pada temperatur 200 C selama 10 menit, sehingga menghasilkan body gitar yang sesuai dengan kontur body-nya. Kata Kunci : Gitar, Modifikasi, Press, Safety, Air Cylinder, Veneer, Mold, ABSTRACT Guitar is a very common musical instrument and can be found in almost every country around the world, especially acoustic guitar, besides being cheap, many people can easily learn and play this instrument. The results of the acoustic guitar sound that is very melodious and cheerful are also very popular with everyone who listens to it, both from the grassroots level and well-known musicians. It is not uncommon for professional musicians to sing their guitars on their music stages and concerts. Musical instruments that are timeless by this time are also made by many guitar manufacturers around the world both at home and global-scale manufacturers, therefore we try to modify the results of the guitar body press machines that are manual to be automatic. The process of meranti wood veneer material with a size of 1000x100x3 mm is immersed in hot water with a temperature of 60 C for 10 minutes (PT. YMMI) until it is saturated with water so that the process of forming the guitar body can be done easily. It is known that lignocellulosic materials containing amorphous polymers can change from glassy states to rubbery conditions and allow them to be deformed when heated under a certain temperature (Hillis and Rozsa 1978). The next working process of this machine modification is pressing the wood veneer into the guitar body mold with a 100 mm diameter air cylinder and bending the side contours (right-left) with a 25 mm diameter air cylinder and heated with a heater at 200 ºC for 10 minutes, so as to produce a guitar body that matches the contours of the body.
