Abstract

ABSTRAK Seiring dengan perkembangan jaman, kebutuhan material konstruksi semakin meluas sehingga merambah pada penggunaan material plastik sebagai bahan utamanya. Namun tentunya material plastik yang akan digunakan dalam bidang konstruksi harus memenuhi persayaratan mampu menahan beban tidak hanya beban statis akan tetapi juga beban dinamis dan beban kejut. Pengujian kemampuan material menahan beban kejut yang paling umum dilakukan adalah uji Impak Charpy, selain karena lebih sederhana, uji impak charpy ini juga relatif lebih aman. Salah satu komponen dari alat uji impak ini yang perlu dirancang dengan teliti adalah pendulum, hal ini agar memastikan bahwa energi impak yang diberikan kepada specimen nantinya memang sesuai standar. Artinya, pendulum ini merupakan bagian dari alat uji impak Charpy yang sangat mendukung kinerja alat pada saat melakukan pengujian. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah merancang pendulum alat uji impak Charpy untuk pengujian material polimer. Pendulum alat uji impak pada penelitian ini dirancang mengikuti standar ISO 179-1:2010 dan ISO 13802:2015. Bahan yang dipilih dalam rancangan pendulum ini dipilih sesuai dengan ketersediaan bahan di pasaran yaitu baja S45C. Hasil dari perancangan ini untuk mendapatkan energi impak maksimum 4 joule dengan jarak titik berat 400 mm diperoleh bahwa rancangan pendulum alat uji impak Charpy memiliki massa 0,74 kg dengan diameter lengan pendulum 7,1 mm. Dengan rancangan pendulum yang mengikuti standar ini maka alat uji impak ini nantinya dapat digunakan untuk penelitian maupun praktikum pengujian kekuatan impak material khususnya material polimer. PENDULUM DESIGN ON IMPACT TEST TOOLS CHARPY METHOD FOR POLYMER MATERIALS ABSTRACT Along with the development of the era, the need for construction materials has expanded to penetrate the use of plastic as its main material. But of course plastic materials that will be used in the construction field must meet the requirement of being able to withstand not only static loads but also dynamic loads and shock loads. Testing the ability of the material to withstand the most common shock loads is the Charpy Impact test, besides being simpler, the charpy impact test is also relatively safer. One component of this impact test tool that needs to be carefully designed is the pendulum, this is to ensure that the impact energy given to the specimen will be according to the standard. That is, this pendulum is part of the Charpy impact test tool that strongly supports the performance of the tool at the time of testing. The purpose of this study is to design a Charpy impact test pendulum for testing polymer materials. The impact test pendulum in this study was designed according to ISO 179- 1: 2010 and ISO 13802: 2015 standards. The material chosen in this pendulum design was chosen according to the availability of material on the market namely S45C steel. The result of this design is to obtain a maximum impact energy of 4 joules with a center distance of 400 mm, it is found that the design of the Charpy impact test pendulum design has a mass of 0.74 kg with a diameter of a pendulum arm of 7.1 mm. With a pendulum design that follows this standard, this impact test tool can later be used for research and practicum testing of the impact strength of materials, especially polymeric materials.
