Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between self compassion and body image in XI grade adolescents at SMK 9 Muhammadiyah Jakarta Selatan. Self compassion is an attitude of understanding and accepting yourself which consists of dimensions of self kindness, common humanity, mindfulness which is an individual's defense to face all failures, sadness and bitterness in life, and helps individuals to create positive emotions in themselves. The respondents in this study were 122 students using non-probability sampling techniques. This quantitative research uses an adaptation of the self-compassion scale developed by (Neff, 2011) and the Multidimensional Body Self Relation Questionnaire-Appearance Scales (MBSRQ-AS) body image scale proposed by (Cash, 2005). The analysis in this study uses the Pearson correlation. The results showed that there was a correlation between self compassion and body image with a correlation value of 0.487. The higher the self compassion, the higher the body image of adolescents at SMK 9 Muhammadiyah Jakarta Selatan. Keywords: Self Compassion, Citra Tubuh, Vocational School Students Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara self compassion dengan citra tubuh pada remaja kelas XI di SMK 9 Muhammadiyah Jakarta Selatan. Self compassion merupakan sikap memahami dan menerima diri sendiri yang terdiri dari dimensi self kindness, common humanity, mindfulness yang menjadi pertahanan individu untuk menghadapi segala kegagalan, kesedihan dan kepahitan dalam hidup, serta membantu individu untuk menciptakan emosi positif dalam diri. Responden dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 122 siswa/I dengan menggunakan teknik non-probability sampling. Penelitian kuantitatif ini menggunakan adaptasi skala self compassion yang dikembangkan oleh (Neff, 2011) dan skala citra tubuh Multidimensional Body Self Relation Questionnaire-Appearance Scales (MBSRQ-AS) yang dikemukakan oleh (Cash, 2005). Analisis dalam penelitian ini menggunakan korelasi pearson. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat korelasi antara self compassion dengan citra tubuh dengan nilai korelasi 0,487. Semakin tinggi self compassion maka semakin tinggi citra tubuh pada remaja di SMK 9 Muhammadiyah Jakarta Selatan. Kata kunci: Self Compassion, Citra Tubuh, Remaja SMK
