Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effect of self-adjustment to mental health in prisoners of Lembaga Pemasyarakatan Klas II A Salemba. There were 333 respondents selected through accidental sampling. The instruments of this research use measurement tools which modified with 26 items for self adjustment (Albert & Emmons, 2002) with Cronbach’s Alpha 0.835 and 22 items for mental health (Veit & Ware, 1983) with Cronbach’s Alpha 0.822. Data processing techniques using the validity, reliability, data normality test, simple linear regression analysis, and the coefficient of determination using SPSS 25.0 for windows.The result shows that there is a significant positive effect between self judgement to mental health (r = 0,557; p = 0,000). Keywords: Self adjustment, Mental health, Prisoners Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh penyesuaian diri terhadap kesehatan mental pada warga binaan di Lembaga Pemasyarakatan klas II A Salemba. Responden penelitian ini sebanyak 333 warga binaan yang terpilih secara accidental sampling. Instrumen penelitian ini menggunakan alat ukur hasil modifikasi dengan total 26 aitem untuk penyesuaian diri (Albert & Emmons, 2002) dengan Cronbach’s Alpha 0,835 dan 22 aitem untuk kesehatan mental (Veit & Ware, 1983) dengan Cronbach’s Alpha 0,822. Teknik pengolahan data menggunakan uji validitas, uji reliabilitas, uji normalitas data, analisis regresi linier sederhana, dan koefisien determinasi dengan menggunakan program SPSS 25.0 for windows. Dari hasil analisis data penelitian menunjukkan bahwa adanya pengaruh positif signifikan antara penyesuaian diri terhadap kesehatan mental dengan nilai (p < 0,05) dengan koefisien R = 0,557 sehingga hasil uji determinasi penyesuaian diri memiliki sumbangan 31% terhadap kesehatan mental.
