Abstract

The wood industry is currently one of the largest commodity industries in Indonesia, this is supported by the vast forest in Indonesia, recorded from one of the WWF's environmental love organizations, although the island area in Indonesia is only 1% of the land area on the earth's surface, reserves Indonesia's forests are the second largest in the world. This is what makes the timber industry in Indonesia flourish as one of the biggest commodities and makes Indonesian timber the largest market in the world. (http://www.kemenperin.go.id). Wood waste is often only used as charcoal, fuel wood or melted into particle wood boards and the like, but has not been fully utilized to make a creative product that is useful for users and is able to be a substitute solution for plastic material that has been used so far. Industri kayu saat ini menjadi salah satu industri dengan komoditas terbesar di Indonesia, hal ini didukung dengan luasnya hutan yang ada di Indonesia, tercatat dari salah satu organisasi cinta lingkungan WWF, meskipun luas pulau di Indonesia hanya 1% dari luas daratan di permukaan bumi, cadangan hutan di Indonesia merupakan kedua terbesar di dunia. Hal ini yang menjadikan industri kayu di Indonesia tumbuh subur sebagai salah satu komoditias terbesar dan menjadikan kayu Indonesia sebagai pasar terbesar didunia. (http://www.kemenperin.go.id). Limbah kayu seringkali hanya dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan arang, kayu bakar atau dilebur untuk menjadi papan kayu partikel dan sejenisnya, namun belum dimanfaatkan secara maksimal untuk membuat sebuah produk kreatif yang bermanfaat untuk pengguna dan mampu menjadi solusi pengganti material plastik yang selama ini digunakan.
