Abstract
The hospital is a health service institution for the community with its own characteristics that are influenced by the development of health science, technological advancements, and the socio-economic life of the community who are still able to improve the quality of services and are affordable by the community in order to realize the highest degree of health. Surgical services have become an essential component of health care in many countries. With the increased incidence of cancer, cardiovascular disease and traumatic injuries, the effect of surgery on the public health service system will increase. In addition, surgery is often the only way or therapy that can reduce the risk of death and reduce disability in several conditions. Rumah sakit merupakan institusi pelayanan kesehatan bagi masyarakat dengan karakteristik tersendiri yang dipengaruhi oleh perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan kesehatan, kemajuan teknologi, dan kehidupan sosial ekonomi masyarakat yang tetap mampu meningkatkan pelayanan yang lebih bermutu dan terjangkau oleh masyarakt agar terwujud derajat kesehatan yang setinggi-tingginya. Pelayananan bedah telah menjadi komponen pelayanan kesehatan yang essensial pada banyak negara. Dengan meningkatnya insidensi dari kanker, penyakit kardiovaskular dan traumatic injuries, maka pengaruh dari pembedahan pada sistem pelayanan kesehatan publik akan bertambah. Selain itu, pembedahan juga sering menjadi satu – satunya cara ataupun terapi yang dapat mengurangi risiko kematian serta mengurangi kecacatan pada beberapa kondisi.
