Abstract
Antena telah memainkan peranan yang sangat penting dalam komunikasi nirkabel saat ini, seperti Mobile dan komunikasi satelit, Global Positioning System (GPS), Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMax), Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) dan kebutuhan kesehatan. Oleh karena itu, telah banyak dilakukan penelitian antena microstrip patch untuk berbagai aplikasi nirkabel tersebut. Tetapi, perlu peningkatan lebar pita (bandwidth) untuk mencapai kinerja antena yang lebih baik. Pada penelitian ini, dihadirkan simulasi dan rancangan antena mikrostrip patch segiempat untuk peningkatan bandwidth dengan metode Defected Ground Structure (DGS), yaitu dengan cara meng-etch atau menghilangkan sebagian lapisan ground plane, dan memvariasikan lebar slot pada ground plane. Menggunakan substrat RT Duroid 5880, dengan ketebalan 1.58 mm, konstanta dielektrik 2.2 dan loss tangen 0.009, antena disimulasikan dan dirancang menggunakan software Sonnet dan pengukuran dilakukan menggunakan Vector Network Analyzer. Dalam sebuah antena mikrostrip patch segiempat ini, Rectangular Microstrip Patch Antenna (RMPA) didesain bekerja pada frekuensi 5 GHz, VSWR ≤ 2 dan return loss di bawah –10 dB, untuk aplikasi WLAN. Antena ini memiliki bandwidth 279 MHz tanpa DGS dan menghasilkan bandwidth 448 MHz dengan DGS pada saat simulasi, atau terjadi peningkatan bandwidth sekitar 60,57%. Dan antena ini memiliki bandwidth 650 MHz tanpa DGS dan menghasilkan bandwidth 1550 MHz dengan DGS pada saat pengukuran, atau terjadi peningkatan bandwidth sekitar 138,46%. Kata Kunci : Antena Mikrostrip Patch Segiempat, Defected Ground Structure, Software Sonnet The smart antennas play an important role in today’s wireless communication, such as Mobile and satellite communication, Global Positioning System (GPS), Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMax), Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) and medicinal applications. So, most antenna designers preferred microstrip patch antenna for various wireless applications. Futhermore, they also need to increase bandwidth as well as achieve advance performance. In this paper, a compact design for bandwidth enhancement of microstrip antenna is present. A basic rectangle microstrip is selected to research. The ground element of the proposed antenna is taken in the form of Defected Ground Structure (DGS) and developed by changing the width of the slot in the ground plane. The antenna is based on substance RT Duroid 5880 and is fed by feeding microstrip line. Sonnet software is used for simulation and analysis of the proposed antenna and Vector Network Analyzer for measured of the proposed antenna. A simple rectangular microstrip patch antenna (RMPA) is design which work at 5 GHz for WLAN application. This antenna has bandwidth of 279 MHz without DGS and produce bandwidth of 448 MHz with DGS when the simulation, or increase of about 60.57 %. And this antenna has bandwidth of 650 MHz without DGS and produce bandwidth of 1550 MHz with DGS when measurement, or increase of about 138.46 %.
