Abstract

Along with the development of the city, DKI Jakarta attracts rural communities to look for work in the city and undertakes urbanization, namely the activities of rural people moving to the city in search of a better and safer life. This is due to the striking difference between urban development and rural conditions. If urban growth in developed countries is generally economic and the development of cities is fast and evenly distributed, in contrast to developing countries such as Indonesia, urban population growth far precedes the development of infrastructure and facilities that can be provided by local governments. So that this results in an increase in the population in Jakarta due to the arrival of the urbanization community. Therefore, the construction of flats (Low Cost Housing) is one of the solutions to meet the needs of low-income people to get decent, healthy housing and meet housing requirements, especially to support various functions or activities of residents in carrying out their lives. Kata Kunci : Padat penduduk, Low Cost Housing, Urbanisasi Seiring dengan perkembangan kota, DKI Jakarta menarik masyarakat desa untuk mencari pekerjaan di kota dan melakukan urbanisasi, yaitu kegiatan masyarakat desa pindah ke kota untuk mencari penghidupan yang lebih baik dan aman. Hal ini disebabkan perbedaan yang mencolok antara pembangunan di kota dengan kondisi desa. Jika pertumbuhan kota di negara maju umumnya perekonomian dan pembangunan kota-kotanya berjalan cepat dan merata berbeda dengan negara berkembang seperti Indonesia, pertumbuhan penduduk perkotaan jauh mendahului perkembangan prasarana dan sarana yang bisa disediakan oleh pemerintah daerah. Sehingga hal tersebut mengakibatkan meningkatnya jumlah penduduk di Jakarta akibat kedatangan masyarakat urbanisasi. Oleh karena itu pembangunan rumah susun (Low Cost Housing) merupakan salah satu solusi untuk memenuhi kebutuhan masyarakat yang berpenghasilan rendah untuk memperoleh hunian yang layak, sehat, dan memenuhi syarat perumahan, terutama guna menunjang berbagai fungsi atau aktivitas penghuni dalam melangsungkan kehidupan.
