Abstract
Since Jeremy Corbyn and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez got successfull in their political career, and called themselves democratic socialists, revived socialism. It attracts The Economist magazine to discuss the issue called millennials socialism. Pinter Politik also published infographic news about the rise of millennials socialism. This study aims to describe how audience interpret the infographic about the issue. This research is using audience reception analysis theory and critical paradigm. Reception analysis is used to examine the public against the hot news in various media, both print and online. Where media content as the received message, use and influence consumers, and these things will be consumer content analysis. Audience reception analysis focused in the process of consuming media that will produce different interpretations among audiences. Data collection technique is done by in-depth interview with some informants from different field of education and job background to collect information about how they interpret it. The results of this research indicate that each informant has a different perception of the infographic about the rise of millennial socialism. Broadly speaking, the audience has 3 groups in interpreting a text, namely dominant-hegemony, negotiated, and oppositional. These results explain that the media is not an institution that has great power in influencing audiences through the message it conveys. It is the audience who are positioned as parties who have the power to create meaning freely and to act or behave by the meaning they create for the media text.
