Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there is a relation between father involvement and social skills of PKBM junior high school students. The subjects taken from 91 PKBM junior high school students. The measuring instrument used in this study is the father involvement measure Goncy & van Dulmen (2010) which was adapted from Diana's research (2018), and the measure of social skills Cartledge & Milburn (1995) which was adapted from Dewi's research (2013). After the researchers tried out the two measuring devices, each scale has reliability 0.952 for the father involvement variable and 0.889 from the social skills variable. The results of this study indicate a sig value of 0.010; p < 0.05 which means that there is a relation between father involvement with social skills of non-formal junior high school students. The correlation value is 0.270 which means the correlation is in the weak and the relation shows a positive direction, which means the higher the father involvement, the higher the social skills, and the opposite. Keywords: father involvement, social skills. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah ada hubungan father involvement dengan keterampilan sosial siswa PKBM paket B. Jumlah subjek dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 91 siswa/I PKBM paket B. Alat ukur yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah alat ukur father involvement Goncy & van Dulmen (2010) yang diadaptasi dari penelitian Diana (2018), dan alat ukur keterampilan sosial Cartledge & Milburn (1995) yang diadaptasi dari penelitian Dewi (2013). Setelah peneliti melakukan uji coba terlebih dahulu pada kedua alat ukur tersebut, masing-masing memiliki nilai reliabilitas sebesar 0,952 dari variabel father involvement dan 0,889 dari variabel keterampilan sosial. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan nilai sig 0,010 ; p < 0,05 yang berarti bahwa ada hubungan antara father involvement dengan keterampilan sosial siswa PKBM paket B. Nilai korelasi pada kedua variabel sebesar 0.270 yang berarti korelasi berada dikategori lemah dan hubungan tersebut menunjukkan kearah positif, dimana semakin tinggi father involvement, maka semakin tinggi pula keterampilan sosialnya, dan begitu pula sebaliknya.
