Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship of fat talk with psychological well-being in early adult women who are not married. The total number of respondents were 204 unmarried women aged 18-24 years by filling out the negative body talk questionnaire version of Engeln-Maddox, R., Salk, RH, and Miller, S. A (2012) which had been carried out by backward forward translate and tested by expert to measure fat talk, and Ryff Psychological well-being scale that has been done backward forward translate and tested by experts to measure psychological well-being. The results show that there is a significant relationship with the acquisition of sig. 0,000; p <0.05 which means that Ha is accepted. This means that there is a relationship between fat talk with psychological well-being in unmarried early adult women with a correlation value - 0.287, which the correlation in this study is in the weak category and shows a negative direction, this means that the higher the fat talk of a woman, the lower psychological well - being of the woman, and vice versa the lower the fat talk of a woman the higher the psychological well - being of a woman. Keywords : Fat Talk, Psychological well – being. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan fat talk dengan psychological well – being pada wanita dewasa awal belum menikah. Jumlah total responden sebanyak 204 wanita belum menikah usia 18 – 24 tahun dengan mengisi kuesioner the negative body talk versi Engeln- Maddox, R., Salk, R. H., dan Miller, S. A (2012) yang telah dilakukan backward forward translate dan diuji oleh expert untuk mengukur fat talk , dan skala Psychological well – being Ryff yang telah dilakukan backward forward translate dan diuji oleh expert untuk mengukur kesejahteraan psikologis. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang signifikan dengan perolehan nilai sig. 0.000 ; p < 0,05 yang berarti Ha diterima. Ini artinya, ada hubungan fat talk dengan psychological well – being pada wanita usia dewasa awal belum menikah dengan nilai korelasi – 0,287 yang mana korelasi dalam penelitian ini berada pada kategori lemah dan menunjukkan kearah negatif,ini berarti semakin tinggi fat talk seorang wanita maka semakin rendah psychological well – being wanita tersebut, begitupun sebaliknya semakin rendah fat talk seorang wanita semakin tinggi psychological well – being seorang wanita.
