Abstract

Individuals who feel less in socializing and getting acquainted with new people in the real life tend to feel lonely. So that the existence of loneliness will encourage individuals to open themselves up in cyberspace to socialize with others and establish close relationships. Previously, research related to loneliness and self disclosure had been done. However, no one has done so in the context of Tinder users. This study aims to determine the relationship between loneliness and self-disclosure in early adults using the Tinder application. This research was conducted using accidental sampling data collection method with the criteria of active users of Tinder applications aged 18-40 years. The study sample consisted of 202 respondents (M age = 1.75, SD = 0.815) consisting of 71 men and 131 women. This study uses two research instruments, the Self-Disclosure Scale and UCLA Loneliness Scale (Version 3) to measure loneliness. The data obtained was processed using Spearman Rho correlation with the help of SPSS version 24. The results of the Spearman Rho correlation analysis obtained a correlation coefficient (r) of -0.049 and a significance value of 0.489. It can be concluded that there is no relationship between loneliness and self-disclosure in early adults using the Tinder application. Keywords: Loneliness, Self disclosure, Online dating, Tinder Individu yang merasa kurang dalam bersosialisasi dan berkenalan dengan orang baru di dunia nyata akan cenderung merasa kesepian. Sehingga dengan adanya rasa kesepian tersebut akan mendorong individu untuk melakukan keterbukaan diri dalam dunia maya, untuk bersosialisasi dengan orang lain dan menjalin hubungan dekat. Sebelumnya, penelitian yang terkait antara kesepian dan keterbukaan diri sudah pernah dilakukan. Namun, belum ada yang melakukannya dalam konteks pengguna Tinder. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara kesepian dengan keterbukaan diri pada dewasa awal yang menggunakan aplikasi Tinder. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode pengumpulan data accidental sampling dengan kriteria pengguna aktif aplikasi Tinder yang berusia 18-40 tahun. Sampel penelitian sebanyak 202 responden (M usia=1.75, SD=0,815) yang terdiri dari 71 laki-laki dan 131 perempuan. Penelitian ini menggunakan dua instrument penelitian, yaitu Skala Keterbukaan Diri dan UCLA Loneliness Scale (Version 3) untuk mengukur kesepian. Data yang diperoleh diolah menggunakan korelasi Spearman Rho dengan bantuan SPSS versi 24. Hasil analisa korelasi Spearman Rho diperoleh koefisien korelasi (r) sebesar -0,049 dan nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,489. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa tidak ada hubungan antara kesepian dengan keterbukaan diri pada dewasa awal yang menggunakan aplikasi Tinder. Kata Kunci: Kesepian, Keterbukaan Diri, Online dating, Tinder
