Abstract

ABSTRACT Puppets Museum located on Pintu besar selatan no.25, West Jakarta. This building was originally an old church founded by the VOC in 1640. Puppets Museum exhibits various types and shapes, until now Puppet Museum collects more than 4,000 puppets. Starting from shadow puppets, leather, cardboard, grass Puppet, janur Puppet masks, dolls, beber Puppet and gamelan. Wayang is a cultural heritage that developed since the year 1500 BCE, Puppet is an art performance of Indonesia is growing rapidly and has been recognized by the world for its uniqueness. Just like Batik, UNESCO on November 7, 2003 has also crowned the puppets as Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity or the world's priceless masterpiece of art in Indonesian native art. Along with the development of the era and the lack of awareness of the community is now Puppets Museum began to be forgotten, visitors who come to this museum are mostly foreign tourists, but when compared with the existing museum area of this museum, including few visitors. All that happened because of the lack of promotion media to introduce Museum of Wayang to the Public about the importance of knowing puppets as the art of genuine performances and Indonesian culture. Key Word: (Puppet, Media Promotion, Puppets Museum, Branding) ABSTRAK Museum Wayang yang berada di jalan pintu besar utara no.25, Jakarta Barat. Gedung ini semula merupakan gereja tua yang didirikan oleh VOC pada tahun 1640. Museum Wayang Jakarta memamerkan berbagai jenis dan bentuk, hingga kini Museum Wayang mengoleksi lebih dari 4.000 buah wayang mulai dari wayang golek, kulit, kardus, wayang rumput, wayang janur, topeng, boneka, wayang beber dan gamelan. Wayang merupakan warisan budaya yang berkembang sejak tahun 1500 Sebelum Masehi, Wayang adalah sebuah seni pertunjukkan Indonesia yang berkembang pesat dan telah diakui dunia karena keunikan yang dimilikinya. Sama seperti Batik, UNESCO pada 7 November 2003 juga telah menobatkan wayang sebagai Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity atau warisan mahakarya dunia yang tak ternilai dalam seni bertutur asli Indonesia. Seiring perkembangan jaman dan kurangnya kesadaran masyarakat kini Museum Wayang mulai dilupakan, pengunjung yang datang ke museum ini kebanyakan wisatawan asing, tetapi jika dibandingkan dengan museum yang ada dikawasan tersebut museum ini termasuk sedikit pengunjungnya. Semua itu terjadi karena kurangnya media promosi untuk memperkenalkan Museum Wayang ke Masyarakat luas tentang pentingnya mengenal wayang sebagai seni pertunjukan asli dan budaya Indonesia.
