Abstract

Errors in design or calculation and also negligence in carrying out routine maintenance are often being the cause of the system malfunction of the fire hydrant system when extinguishing and controlling fires which ultimately causes time losses, material losses, and even sacrifice one's life. For this reason, it is necessary to evaluate the hydrant system installed in each building sector. The evaluation was carried out at the milk storage factory in East Jakarta. The Method were used are by testing and measuring the performance of the system based on NFPA standards. The data collected will then be compared or matched with data sheets and calculations are done manually by the Darcy-Weisbech method. Data collection is carried out when the contractor carries out commission work. The first step taken is to collect the specification documents, check the performance of each pump and then proceed to flushing the piping system and finally measuring the pressure at the furthest point hydrant nozzle. The result is there are some leakage where find at the fittings connection and valves. Based on test results, the pump is able to produce a capacity of 0,2019 m3 /s with a pressure of 9,7 bar (970 kPa) at 100% performance and 0,2902 m3 /s with a pressure of 8,5 bar (850 kPa) at 150% performance. The pressure that exits at the farthest hydrant point gets a significant result that is equal to 9,3 bar (930 kPa). In calculations using the Darcy�Weisbech method, the pump capacity required by the system as a whole is 0,1893 m3 /s and the power is 526.08553 watts with total head losses of 2,82634 m2 /s2 . In addition, during the testing also found some leakage in the connection which although the leak did not have a significant effect on the measurement results but still needed to be followed up by the contractor. In addition to diesel-engined pumps, the plant is also installed with electric pumps that have not been tested. For that, in the future testing needs to be done with the same method to determine the toughness of the pump. Kesalahan pada desain atau perhitungan serta kelalaian dalam melakukan perawatan seringkali menjadi penyebab kegagalan fungsi sistem hydrant kebakaran dalam memadamkan dan mengendalikan kebakaran yang pada akhirnya banyak menyebabkan kerugian waktu, materi bahkan sampai mengorbankan jiwa seseorang. Untuk itu maka perlu dilakukan evaluasi terhadap sistem hydrant yang terpasang di setiap sektor bangunan. Evaluasi dilakukan di sebuah pabrik penyimpanan susu yang berada di Jakarta Timur. Metode yang dilakukan adalah dengan melakukan serangkaian pengetesan dan pengukuran performa sistem berdasarkan standard NFPA. Data-data yang dihimpun kemudian akan dibandingkan atau dicocokan dengan datasheet dan perhitungan yang dilakukan secara manual dengan metode Darcy-Weisbech. Pengumpulan data dilakukan pada saat kontraktor melakukan pekerjaan commissioning. Langkah awal yang dilakukan adalah melakukan pengumpulan dokumen spesifikasi, pengechekan performa dari setiap pompa kemudian berlanjut ke flushing sistem pemipaan dan terakhir dilakukan pengukuran tekanan pada nozzle hydrant di titik terjauh. Hasil pengujian menunjukan bahwa pompa mampu menghasilkan kapasitas sebesar 0,2019 m3 /s dengan tekanan 9,7 bar (970 kPa) di 100% performa dan 0,2902 m3 /s dengan tekanan 8,5 bar (850 kPa) di 150% performa. Tekanan yang keluar di titik hydrant terjauh mendapatkan hasil yang cukup signifikan yaitu sebesar 9,3 bar (930 kPa). Secara perhitungan dengan menggunakan metode Darcy-Weisbech, kapasitas pompa yang dibutuhkan sistem secara keseluruhan adalah sebesar 0,1893 m3 /s dan daya sebesar 526,08553 watt dengan total head losses sebesar 2,82634 m2 /s2 . Selain itu, selama pengetesan juga ditemukan beberapa kebocoran pada sambungan yang meskipun kebocoran tersebut tidak berpengaruh signifikan terhadap hasil pengukuran tetapi tetap perlu ditindaklanjuti oleh kontraktor. Selain Pompa bermesin Diesel, di pabrik ini juga dipasang dengan pompa elektrik yang belum dilakukan pengetesan. Untuk itu, kedepannya perlu dilakukan pengetesan dengan metode yang sama untuk mengetahui ketangguhan dari pompa tersebut.
