Abstract

This grid array antenna was designed and implemented for the 5G communication network, where currently the 5G network has begun to be developed quickly and has even been implemented in South Korea and several other countries that are in the implementation of the next generation 4G. During the study period, several frequencies were proposed as the main frequencies in 5G, one of which was the 15 GHz frequency. Design and simulation using Ansoft High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) v13 software and after getting good optimization results, proceed with fabrication using a single layer FR4 type Substrate / PCB (Printed Circuit Board) which has a thickness of 1.6 mm with dielectric constant 4.7 and SMA connector female which the substrate size is 40 mm x 30 mm. In the simulation results of antenna design with the CRLH metamaterial obtained a frequency of 15.0452 GHz with a reflection factor of -29.2819 dB. Whereas the measurement obtained a shift in the value of the frequency that is equal to 0.3898 GHz which obtained a frequency of 15.4350 GHz and the reflection factor value of -7.3189 dB. Several factors can affect shifts in the fabricated antenna parameter values, namely cutting on the PCB that is less precise, the efficiency of the measuring instrument in the presence of other objects within the radius when measuring the antenna which is very easy to influence the measurement process, the erosion of the conductor during the photo etching process which causes the patch measurement values to be incompatible during the measurement. Keywords : Grid Array Antenna (GAA), Microstrip antenna, 5G, Ansoft High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS), Reflection factor, Bandwidth, VSWR. Antena grid array ini dirancang dan diterapkan untuk jaringan komunikasi 5G, dimana pada saat ini jaringan 5G sudah mulai dikembangkan secara pesat bahkan telah diterapkan di negara korea selatan dan beberapa negara lain yang sedang dalam masa untuk menerapkan jaringan generasi lanjutan dari 4G ini. Selama masa penelitian, diajukan beberapa frekuensi sebagai frekuensi utama dalam 5G, salah satunya adalah frekuensi 15 GHz. Perancangan dan simulasi menggunakan software Ansoft High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) v13 dan setelah mendapatkan hasil optimasi yang bagus, dilanjutkan dengan fabrikasi menggunakan substrat / PCB (Printed Circuit Board) Single layer jenis FR4 yang memiliki ketebalan 1.6 mm dengan konstanta dielektrik 4.7 dan Konektor SMA female yang mana ukuran substratnya yaitu 40 mm x 30 mm. Pada hasil simulasi rancangan antena dengan metamaterial CRLH didapat frekuensi sebesar 15.0452 GHz dengan faktor refleksi sebesar -29.2819 dB. Sedangkan dengan pengukuran didapatkan pergeseran nilai frekuensi yaitu sebesar 0.3898 GHz yang mana didapatkan frekuensi sebesar 15.4350 GHz dan nilai faktor refleksi sebesar -7.3189 dB. Beberapa faktor dapat mempengaruhi pergeseran pada nilai parameter antena yang telah di fabrikasi yaitu pemotongan pada PCB yang kurang presisi, faktor efisiensi alat ukur dengan adanya benda benda lain yang berada dalam radius saat melakukan pengukuran antena yang sangat mudah mempengaruhi proses berlangsungnya pengukuran, pengikisan konduktor yang terjadi saat proses photo etching yang menyebabkan nilai ukur patch tidak sesuai saat pengukuran berlangsung.
